Jude 1:14-16

14 And [de] Enoch [Enoch] also [kai], the seventh [hebdomos] from [apo] Adam [Adam], prophesied [propheteuo] of these [toutois], saying [lego], Behold [idou], the Lord [kurios] cometh [erchomai] with [en] ten thousands [murias] of his [autos] saints [hagios],
15 ¶ To execute [poieo] judgment [krisis] upon [kata] all [pas], and [kai] to convince [exelegcho] all [pas] that are ungodly [asebes] among them [autos] of [peri] all [pas] their [autos] ungodly [asebeia] deeds [ergon] which [hos] they have ungodly committed [asebeo], and [kai] of [peri] all [pas] their hard [skleros] speeches which [hos] ungodly [asebes] sinners [hamartolos] have spoken [laleo] against [kata] him [autos].
16 These [houtos] are [eisi] murmurers [goggustes], complainers [mempsimoiros], walking [poreuomai] after [kata] their own [autos] lusts [epithumia]; and [kai] their [autos] mouth [stoma] speaketh [laleo] great swelling [huperogkos] words, having men's persons [prosopon] in admiration [thaumazo] because [charin] of advantage [opheleia]. KJV-Interlinear

14 And about these also Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, 'Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones, 15 to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.' 16 These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts; they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage. NASB

Jude continues describing the attitudes of those evil peoples who would try to distract you from your faith and from your spiritual life. Jude uses the Book of Enoch as one of his sources.

He defines Enoch as the son of Jared as opposed to the other people of that same name in the Bible, who were descendants of Cain.

Gen. 5:18
18 And Jared lived one hundred and sixty-two years, and became the father of Enoch. NASB

Gen. 5:21-24
21 And Enoch lived sixty-five years, and became the father of Methuselah. 22 Then Enoch walked with God three hundred years after he became the father of Methuselah, and he had other sons and daughters. 23 So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. 24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. NASB

Enoch lived in the centuries prior to the Flood of Noah's time. Noah had not been born during Enoch's life. But even in those very early times of human history, the prophecies and warnings of the 'end times' were common knowledge. They did not have to wait for Moses to come along to have a written account of history, nor the prophecies of a Savior and the Day of the Lord.

Enoch spoke of huge numbers of believers accompanying the Lord in His Second Advent. This event is also mentioned in Zech. 14.

Zech 14:4-5
4 And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south. 5 And you will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel; yes, you will flee just as you fled before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD, my God, will come, and all the holy ones with Him! NASB

'His holy myriads' refers to a huge number of believers we know today as the Royal Family, but certainly many angels will be in the armies which follow Christ back to earth as well.

Book of Enoch 1:9
'And behold, he comes with myriads of the holy, to pass judgment upon them, and will destroy the impious, and will call to account all flesh for everything the sinners and the impious have done and committed against him'

We have mentioned the many sources of apostate people who will try to mislead people from their spiritual lives. From family members to renown celebrities, to simple things like advertising campaigns. The list of sources of possible spiritual attack are seemingly endless.

But in every respect the people behind the attacks are selfish, selfish centered complainers. They offer no real solutions to problems. They cannot because they have no solutions. They only seek to advance themselves and satisfy their own ego and lusts by means of criticism and ridicule. They are described as 'murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts, and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.'

2 Peter 2:18-19
18 For speaking out arrogant words of vanity they entice by fleshly desires, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error, 19 promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved. NASB

I noticed that the complainers (in the news) in the Louisiana disaster region, have come down in their numbers significantly today, what with all of the massive aid and evacuation activities that are now taking place.

I heard on the news that the destruction area was over 90,000 square miles, or an area larger than the nation of Great Briton. Quite a huge disaster from one hurricane. The city of New Orleans being of course the focus of the worst part of that disaster.

The storm hitting on Monday early in he morning with rescue efforts beginning later on that day, and now on Saturday, just five days later, the evacuation of the entire city is nearly complete. True there are still thousands to be helped, but many hundreds of thousands are now out of the city.

I mention this in passing only because when we get back to our study of the tribulation, in Revelation, that we will be able to take some of these facts of disasters in our current time and compare them to much bigger disasters which will occur in the Tribulation. Then in that future time, there will be no rescuers, no aid, no one to come and help the helpless. No one except the gangs and thugs who will have their way freely with any and all victims.

Note also that no real solutions to problems come from spiritually deficient people. The best solutions come from spiritually viable people. Something else to note when we get back to our Tribulation study. And yet another reason for the terrible circumstances which will occur in that future time.

The Israelites complained in the desert despite their recent exodus from Egypt. God heard them and eventually condemned them to die in the desert without anything to show for their lives. They missed out on a tremendous opportunity, complaining constantly over what they did have. Which was never enough.

Today we can have complainers too, but anyone who is alive has a tremendous opportunity to have a spiritual life which will prepare them not only for a better life here on earth, but an infinitely better life in heaven.

This is the devils world and with it comes hardships. Everything we have in this life should be viewed as forfeit, because the things of this life have no value. God gives and takes away the things of this life. But what God gives in the spiritual realm is given permanently and never taken away. It is eternal. Strive for that which will last forever and forget that which has a limited life and value.

The recent storms and disasters are intended to get our focus back onto God and that which is important in life. A home, a car, things we are used to having on a daily basis can be snapped out of our lives in an instant. One storm, one accident, one virus is all it takes to change our lives dramatically when we choose to live in and embrace the jungle of this world.

Evil people seek advantage from this world. Wise people seek advantage from God.
