Jude 1:12-13 12 These [houtos] are [eisi] spots [spilas] in [en] your [humon] feasts of charity [agape], when they feast [suneuocheo] with you [humin], feeding [poimaino] themselves [heautou] without fear [aphobos]: clouds [nephele] they are without water [anudros], carried about [periphero] of [hupo] winds [anemos]; trees [dendron] whose fruit withereth [phthinoporinos], without fruit [akarpos], twice [dis] dead [apothnesko], plucked up by the roots [ekrizoo]; 13 Raging [agrios] waves [kuma] of the sea [thalassa], foaming out [epaphrizo] their own [heautou] shame [aischune]; wandering [planetes] stars [aster], to whom [hos] is reserved [tereo] the blackness [zophos] of darkness [skotos] for [eis] ever [aion]. KJV-Interlinear 12 These men are those who are hidden reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you without fear, caring for themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted; 13 wild waves of the sea, casting up their own shame like foam; wandering stars, for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever. NASB The false teachers, the apostates, those who would destroy your only chance for a future both now in this life and in eternity, can include many kinds of folks. They can be a family member who is negative toward God or doctrine. They can be an educational or religious system that rejects Christianity. They can be politicians, or news media folks who pretend to be good leaders concerned for your well being. They can be advertising and marketing campaigns enticing you to their goods or services. False doctrines can come from many sources. You have only to study diligently and daily, the Word of God and you will not be taken in by those who would use you for their own interests. Jude describes these false teachers. They are hidden reefs, luring your craft onto their cutting edges and destroying you totally. They do not show their true teeth or motives or the weapons they use against you. They invite themselves into, and appeal, to your most private celebrations in life and gain your trust with their seductive words or encouragement's, or even through their ridicule of your beliefs. They imply that you are not worthy of anything from God. God does not do anything for you anyway. They care for themselves only. They are waterless clouds. The winds toss them around with little effort. They have no wisdom, no leadership to give. They cannot help you. They intend only in helping themselves, and they change their own direction with the popular social or political trends. They have no principles, no stability. They are trees without fruit. Double dead. They produce no fruit for themselves. They have no spiritual life. They have no fruit to provide for others. They cannot produce that which they have no capacity for. They pretend to be shepherds, but care nothing for the flock which they intend to shepherd. The flock is used only to gain their prestige in life. They prefer to keep the flock in need in order to produce a false sense of need for their wisdom or leadership or opinions. They are as uncontrollable as the sea, and as useless as the foam it places on the beach. They are like the shooting star, the occasional comet. Something to be gazed upon for a short while and then they are gone, along with their wisdom. Stationary stars are useful for guides in navigation, for seasons and such. But the apostate people are never stationary in their beliefs or their leadership, or in their opinions. They are selfish, reckless, disrespectful. They care only for themselves. I found it interesting that there were some politicians who were criticizing early this morning, the relief efforts in Louisiana (they even quoted scripture), and then right after their little news conference, another news coverage came on detailing all of the relief efforts (which have been massive by the way) since before rains and wind came to a halt down in New Orleans. These things in spite of the many hoodlums and lawless types that seem to have come up out of the cracks. Those politicians were totally out of line and their remarks were obviously not intended to help the situation, but to get little political digs in against the current administration. Even that woman, that anti-war crusader mom who lost her son a year ago (can't recall her name at the moment), but she is totally out of line. Caring nothing for freedom, but promoting her own selfish agenda. These are typical of scripture quoting, anti-God people. They hate truth. They hate those who are currently in power. They offer no solution but only criticism, and demand quitting the current policies. They imply that if we stop what we are doing right now, somehow we will be better off, and no further injuries will come. Those are outright lies and will cost us dearly if they are listened to. When in current history has an entire city been submerged in water after such a storm? How could anyone have foreseen the magnitude of such a disaster, let alone have organized and responded faster with such a huge out pouring of aid in only a couple of days? What more could have been done before now? And the last bit of nonsense that came out of these peoples mouths, is the blame they placed on global warming and the current President being responsible for the storm. Utter nonsense. Global warming has been with us since ancient times. The deserts of today did not develop just in the last few decades, but over many thousands of years. The global warming phrase that people use is really a global climate change that has been an ongoing process for millennia. And, by the way, it will get only worse as time goes on. We studied the various climate problems that will occur in the Tribulation. Tremendous heat waves, famines, abnormal storms, huge hail storms, and so forth. These will come not from the sole condition of nature and a global weather change alone, but they will come at the direction of God. He can command any storm at any time, and in any degree of severity. Nothing in history happens by accident. Self serving apostates ignore Gods hand in life. They only desire to please themselves at everyone else's expense. They only desire to advance themselves at the expense of others. They seek self promotion not by merit, but through criticism. Throughout life these apostate types, these evil types, will always be opening their mouths and thus revealing their utter stupidity. Just ignore them and do not be fooled by them. And, certainly do not desire to share their future. Jude has given several examples of the destiny of those who have rejected God and doctrine. There is nothing to be gained in pursuing the inflexible source of lies and stupidity.
Now is the time to post a prayer. End Of Lesson Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth. |
