You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

rewarded evil to my friend, Or have plundered him who without cause was my
adversary, NASB
David continues with his plea in prayer to God. If I have done evil, provoked in some way, conducted myself or led into conduct by some action or inaction of mine, and caused another person to come into harms way.
And yet, David continues, on the contrary, quite the opposite has occurred.
On the contrary, I have delivered, protected, looked after the best interest, of one who is my enemy, but should not be my enemy. And the enemy of mine is my enemy through no reason or action of mine, but through their own actions.
Saul, is the most likely candidate object, of this psalm, since it was he who pursued David out of arrogance and jealousy. David had done nothing, but was chosen by God. Whereas Saul was not chosen by God, but chosen by his popularity with the people.
And yet popularity with humanity is not a basis nor qualification for ones place in this world.
Saul was popular and was elected king. David spent his time with the sheep and his scriptures.
Saul had worldly qualities. David had divine qualities.
David chose God. Saul chose the approbation of people. God chose David. God rejected Saul. Saul rejected God first.
There are but two opinions in this life, that of God and that of the world. The world bases its opinions on imagination, on lies, on false concepts. The opinions of the world are in error, because it lacks detailed truth. The world lacks detailed truth because it ignores truth, rejects truth, and does not make an effort to learn it.
And therefore the world, the philosophies of the world will oppose anyone who pursues truth, will manifest accusations against believers, although the accusations are wrong. And even if the accusations were true, the world has no right to assault or attack anyone for any reason. Judgment belongs to God.
This excludes legitimate accusations by means of legal due process, complete with truthful testimony, evidence, etc. Legal due process is a component of the divine establishments designed by God.
Therefore you can side with God, through your daily studies and learn truth and correct discernment about life, or you can side with the world, and become an accuser, a complainer, an excuse artist for everything that you fail at.
For it is God who controls history, not you. And it is God who possesses control over your life, regardless of your circumstances, while you have no right or place, to accuse or complain or blame anyone else, for any reason.
