Common sense is terribly lacking in this world. People look at life through a tunnel and if they do not see something then it does not exist. Likewise if the Bible says one thing or does not say something, then they restrict their thinking to whatever is in the Bible or not in the Bible. They refuse to sit back and look at the whole picture, which, by the way, God painted as well.

Discretion, ‘mishpat,’ generally refers to judgment, manner, law, measure, and comes to mean discernment when evaluating information or circumstances, and refers to common sense when evaluating life in general.

Now, did God lean down and instruct all of the farmers of the world? No, and yes, as it were.

In the Bible, God did give specific instructions so that something could be accomplished. He instructed Noah in the construction of the ark. He instructed Joshua in various military actions. He gave specific instructions in the construction of the temple. And there are many more examples.

But as far as farming goes. That instruction came primarily from observation, trial and error, learning and the knowledge that develops during the life of the individual farmer as well as advice that came down to him from his parents and so forth.

So, no, God did not speak to the farmers of the world, but yes, God set forth many common sense rules that apply to farming. Rules such as distinguishing wet land crops versus dry land crops, plowing, clearing rocks away, the use of different soils and approaches for different crops and climates, and so forth.

These things are not described in the Bible, so do they not exist? But they do exist in life and in this world, so obviously they are truths that are separate and apart from the Bible. Just like atoms and small atomic particles, and solar systems, and galaxies, and time and distance relationships, and social issues and cooking and changing of diapers and hygiene and computers and on and on.

These things are not in the Bible, but they are a part of the vast array of truths, which are details that match with reality, all of which God designed and invented, and set forth the rules that pertain to every aspect of the function of this universe, whether we can see them or not, whether we know of them or not.
