You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Job 9:34-35
34 Let him take [cuwr] his rod [shebet] away [cuwr] from me, and
let not his fear ['eymah] terrify [ba`ath] me:
35 Then would I speak [dabar], and not fear [yare'] him;
but it is not so with me. KJV-Interlinear
34 'Let Him remove His rod from
me, And let not dread of Him terrify me. 35 'Then I would speak and not fear Him; But I am not like that in myself. NASB
If Gods rod were removed, if suffering were eliminated
from ones life, if fear were not a factor in how man dealt with the realities
of his existence, then what?
Could man then speak freely with his fellow man? Could Man speak freely with God? Could man deal with God or any other creature
for that matter, on an even basis?
Would this solve all of mans problems? Would this bring an end to all
controversy? Would this prevent
adversity? Would this bring an end to
all problems, hardships, hatred, lust, sin of every sort?
Could man then face life without fear and
insecurity? Could man face reality with
confidence and assurance that he was never going to lose anything in life? Could man then become his own self-contained,
self-defined, self-determined destiny?
And of course the answer to all of these questions and
many more like them, has already been answered by Job in this chapter.
No.
Man does not have the wherewithal to control the
growth of his own hair, let alone control the destiny of his history. Most of the 'rod' concept is really the
result of mans own failures.
God is infinite and eternal, and perfect in every
way. Man is sinful and imperfect in
every way.
God can do what He wills. Man can only wish or hope.
God can see the future and make provision for every
aspect of the universe. Man cannot be
certain of the next minute of his own life, let alone the future of the human
race.
God has never made any mistakes. Mans history if filled with nothing but
mistakes, inadequacies, inabilities, insecurities, incompetence.
God has a definite plan, which has never changed throughout
all of history. Mans plans are filled
with bias, politics, celebrityship, favoritism, regulation, regulations for the
regulations, exceptions to the regulations, personal opinions, phobias, and
wishes.
Has the fear free environment, which Job has just described,
ever existed? Yes.
The angels originally lived in a fear free environment,
but they fell from grace anyway. And angels
are far superior to humanity in every way.
If angels are smarter, stronger, healthier, more adaptable, and have
capacities far greater than humanity, and yet they failed even in the presence
of God, then how can mortal man hope to deal with the realities of life, which
he doesn t even understand?
And Job closes this chapter with His answer. He is not like this. He is not like the carnal man who lacks
understanding, who rejects God, who looks to life through indifferent and arrogant
eyes.
God is the glue who holds all that exists, together. Eliminate the glue and all that exists will
fly apart.
Can humanity control the weather? Can humanity control the solar flares of the
sun? Can humanity control the balance of
nature? Can humanity make all things in
this world, equal for everyone? No. Only God can accomplish that.
When it comes right down to the bottom line of life,
humanity can't control anything on a permanent basis.
So you have a choice.
You can look to God, who has all of the provisions, solutions, and
answers for your life, or you can look to your own ingenuity and abilities.
