Job 9:32-33

32 For he is not a man ['iysh], as I am, that I should answer [`anah] him, and we should come [bow'] together [yachad] in judgment [mishpat].

33 Neither is [yesh] there any daysman [yakach] betwixt us, that might lay [shiyth] his hand [yad] upon us both [shanayim]. KJV-Interlinear

32 'For He is not a man as I am that I may answer Him, That we may go to court together. 33 'There is no umpire between us, Who may lay his hand upon us both. NASB

Job was a knowledgeable man. He had knowledge of the stars that were in the southern hemisphere sky, though he had never seen them. Job properly practiced the offerings and sacrifices as we saw in chapter one. Job had eleven thousand animals in his herds.

This certainly implies that the region in which he lived, probably in our modern day southern Iraq, had plush grassy ranges for a huge grazing animal population. Today the region is not much more than a desert, with such huge herds nowhere to be found.

Job was aware of the salvation requirements, 'Faith in the promised savior.'

So what do we have here? Job complains that there is no one who can stand between God and man, and mediate or judge between the two, and arrive at a just decision.

And when a person rejects God in their life, when a person looks to their own energy and abilities and ultimately come up against something that is greater then they, then they have no one to turn to for an equitable solution.

Without God, man has only the jungle to contend with, and the jungle will play favorites. The jungle has its prejudices. The jungle will be unfair to everyone eventually. The jungle will make friends, and dump them in the same breath.

God the Father is the ultimate deity. He is the target of all faith. But when man looks to the Father as do many religions, the Father lays down the requirements for approaching Himself. That requirement is to go through the only Son, whom we have a name for now in our day.

Jesus Christ sets Christianity apart from all other religions. They reject or ignore Christ, seeking to approach God the Father directly, and this God will not allow.

Judaism recognizes the Father, but rejects His anointed one, Jesus Christ. They are still looking for someone else to fill that role.

Islam renames the Father and look to a different prophet-teacher, but they reject anyone who would pay the price for sin in their behalf. Each man is to fight the infidel and thereby attain glory in Paradise on their own. The infidel is sin, or their own self, by the way, but that idea seems to have slipped by them.

Buddhism and Hinduism reject God and savior altogether. They just want to be absorbed into nature and the universe.

As for the other religions of Job's day, they just wanted sex and drug highs. Today the many religions and cults that have been invented in the last couple of centuries are just plain nonsense. Remember, Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship with God, through Christ.

Jesus Christ is the plan. Reject the plan and you reject the planner. No one can approach God directly. We all have to go through the one and only qualified mediator, Jesus Christ.

Now, Job tells us that there is no mediator, no mediator on planet earth, who originates from planet earth, who can call the two opponents, God and man, together and decide the case between the two. There is no person in the usual sense, who can stand between both man and God, no court which is qualified or even possesses the jurisdiction with which to hear the case of both God and man.

Job has already listed many of mans flaws and inadequacies, in this chapter. God is infinite, man is not. God will not throw away all of His essence of deity and reduce Himself to mans level.

In order to bring man and God together, someone must be able to fill the role of both God and man. Someone must be equal to both God and man. And, since man is both wicked, dead, and hopelessly in debt therefore falling far short of perfection, then there must be someone who can step forward and pay mans debt off.

No religion, no belief, no philosophy, no technology on this earth is able to accomplish that. Those who have believed in Christ understand this principle. Those who think that all of this Bible stuff is nonsense, don't care anyway. Those who come part way in their spiritual life, but generally remain indifferent, will one day discover to their great disappointment, that they have turned their back on a king's wealth in blessings.
