You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Job 7:19
19 How long [mah] wilt thou not
depart [sha`ah] from me, nor let me alone [raphah] till I swallow down [bala`]
my spittle [roq]? KJV-Interlinear
19 'Wilt Thou never turn Thy gaze away from me, Nor let me
alone until I swallow my spittle? NASB
'Swallowing my spittle,' is an
expression for 'Give me some space,'
'Give me a moment,' 'Hold on for
a second.'
Job asks for a brief reprieve from this
harsh suffering. He asks for a brief
second. Just an instant of time, where
he can at least regain his breath.
But the answer to this question is,
'never.' God never takes his eyes off of
anyone. Certainly, not off of you
throughout your entire life.
God saw you when He drafted the Divine
Decrees in eternity past. He saw your
life in its entirety. He saw your every
thought, motive, and action. He saw what
you would think and do, as well as what you would not think and would not do
during your entire life.
God saw in eternity past all of the
games you would play in life. He saw
your sincerity or lack of it, your pretense, your apathy, your indifference,
and God made provisions for every aspect of your life, whether good or bad.
There is not a year, not a month, not a
day, not a moment, not a blink of an eye that gets by God. He has known you since eternity past, and He
knows you even better than you know yourself.
God does not let up on those who, He
knows, will pursue their spiritual lives.
If you have ever had a boot camp experience, then you know that the
drill instructors never let up. From day
one, you are pushed and hounded, drilled and disciplined around the clock. It isn't too long before you are wishing for
just a moment of rest, but it never comes.
You are trained, disciplined, and made
to be alert for everything, so that you will remain alive. God does the same. He will push you and hound you so that you
will advance in your spiritual life and have the greatest possible life, ever.
The world wants you to be distracted and
lazy in your spiritual life, so you will end up with nothing at the end of your
life. All the while trying to convince
you that everything you are accomplishing is for your own good, when it is not.
Will God ever turn His gaze away from
you? No, not as long as there is the smallest
possibility that you will come around and grow up spiritually.
You may be disinterested in Bible
doctrine today, and tomorrow. You may be disinterested for many years or even
decades. But God knows your life in its
entirety. He knows when you are going to
turn your life to Him, or if you are going to change at all.
The risk you take is in being
indifferent and then possibly losing out on your greatest possible life. God knows your life. You do not.
God knows the games you might play and if you will ever get serious.
And then, the answer that you should
most fear, is that God 'will' turn His attention away from you. If that ever happens, then you will be so far
departed from your spiritual life, that you will never know the difference.
Don't conclude that bad things happening
in your life mean that God has turned away from you. If you have any spiritual thoughts at all, if
you have any inclination toward God at all, then He is there. And He is there just waiting for you to begin
growing up.
