You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Job 7:16-18
16 I loathe [ma'ac] it; I would
not live [chayah] alway [`owlam]: let me alone [chadal]; for
my days [yowm] are vanity [hebel].
17 What is man ['enowsh], that thou shouldest magnify [gadal] him? and that thou shouldest set [shiyth] thine heart [leb] upon him?
18 And that thou shouldest visit [paqad] him every morning [boqer],
and try [bachan] him every moment [rega`]? KJV-Interlinear
16 'I waste away; I will not live forever. Leave me alone,
for my days are but a breath. 17 'What
is man that Thou dost magnify him, And that Thou art concerned about him, 18 That Thou dost examine him every morning,
And try him every moment? NASB
From the moment you were born into this
world, from the time God imputed human life into your soul, when that first
breath of life entered into your body and you erupted into your first infant
cry, the countdown clock started on your life in this world.
Job feels he is wasting away because he
is in pain. He feels that his life's days
are definitely numbered, that his life is an empty uselessness. So, just leave him alone!
What is all of the fuss about? Why should a person be born into this world
just to endure suffering? Why are we
born into this world anyway? What is our
purpose? Are we just toys, playthings,
entertainment for the angels? Is man here to discover the secrets of the
universe and then master them, to accomplish everlasting life? Is man here to rise above his flaws and
attain perfection all by himself? Is man
here to prove something? If so what, and
to whom?
Our universe is estimated to be over fifteen
billion light years to the far reaches of its edge. And, with each advancement in astronomy
technology, the size of the discovered universe just gets bigger and
bigger. The next big jump in technology
will be the Webb Space Telescope that will be available in a few years. That should make Hubble look like a stone age
viewing box. Where is the limit of the
universe? Is the universe without
limits? No one knows.
God is limitless, so the universe quite
likely has no boundaries.
And as for humanity? Why are we
here? If we are but dust and air, then what
possible worth can we have, given the vastness of everything else?
Look in the mirror tonight and ask yourself
the question, 'What exactly am I. What
is my purpose? What makes me so valuable
to God?'
Psa. 144:3-4
3 O LORD, what is man, that Thou dost
take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that Thou dost think of him?
4 Man is like a mere breath; His days
are like a passing shadow. NASB
Psa. 8:4-5
4 What is man, that Thou dost take
thought of him? And the son of man, that Thou dost care for him?
5 Yet Thou hast made him a little lower
than God, And dost crown him with glory and majesty! NASB
And so here we are. We are lower than the angels. Angels who can fly throughout the universe.
Creatures that need no air, food, or water to live. And yet those angels, who certainly have
access to virtually all of the facts of history, including the very creation of
the universe, fell far short of trusting in God, who they could see.
And we, a lower creature, who cannot see
beyond the heavens, some who are not able to see beyond their noses, who have
not had the intimate accesses to ancient history, who are limited to this
planet, and the necessities and limits of life.
We choose to believe in something that the entire world ridicules and
opposes in virtually every aspect.
We choose to believe and trust in
someone whom we have never seen, nor had any direct access to. We choose to believe and trust in a
philosophy, which we call Bible doctrine, believing it as the truth of reality,
though we cannot see or even detect every aspect of reality. We can't see the angels, or our own soul for
example.
Every minute of our entire life, from
our birth to the moment of our death, God examines us. We are on probation, as it were. Being examined and tested to determine the
trueness of our thoughts and of our faith.
Such that, when human history finally
comes to an end, we, who have been saved, will go into a new universe, which is
a new heaven, and we who have been faithful to our spiritual lives, will become
the recipients of phenomenal blessings, blessings that far exceed our ability
to imagine.
Why should an infinite all-powerful
deity even care for dust and air?
Because what is important to God is the
truth of righteous perfection, and the cleansing purity of justice, and life. And because we have believed in His name, in
His plan, in His savior, and in His doctrine. God magnified His word above His
name, because that is our point of access to Him.
Our nature of dust and air is
fundamentally simple as far as all of the complexities of this universe are
concerned, but dust and air have the ability to believe in the unseen. Whereas, all of the wisdom of the world can't
determine he difference between straight up and straight down.
We as dust are not the target of Gods
blessings. Faith is His target.
So just as He examines each one of us
day and night, so too, we should examine ourselves to make sure that we are
living our life inside of His will.
Alone we are nothing. In God we are raised to heights beyond
imagination. Isn't that worth some kind
of attempt to understand the One who provides us with so great a destiny?
