17 Saying, [lego] We give [eucharisteo] thee [soi] thanks, [eucharisteo] O Lord [kurios] God [theos] Almighty, [pantokrator] which [ho] art [on], [ho on kai ho en kai ho erchomenos] and [kai] wast [en], [ho on kai ho en kai ho erchomenos] and [kai] art to come [erchomai]; [ho on kai ho en kai ho erchomenos] because [hoti] thou hast taken to thee [lambano] thy [sou] great [megas] power, [dunamis] and [kai] hast reigned. [basileuo] KJV-Interlinear

17 saying, "We give Thee thanks, O Lord God, the Almighty, who art and who wast, because Thou hast taken Thy great power and hast begun to reign. NASB

Psalm two signifies that the second person of the Trinity was given the title, Son of God, and to Him was given all authority and dominion over all that exist.

Here in our passage, that concept and truth is reinforced, in the recognition of the elders of Gods divine authority and power, referring to the Almighty.

And to the person of Jesus Christ, referring to the Lord God. The term, Lord, referring to the second person of the Trinity.

And to the eternal nature of Jesus Christ, in using the phrase, who is and who was, making reference to eternity past, now, and eternity future, Rev. 7:2; Deut 5:26; Josh 3:10; 1 Sam 17:26; 2 Kings 19:4,16; Ps 42:2; 84:2; Jer 10:10; Matt 16:16; 2 Cor 3:3; Heb 12:22.

In utilizing His great power, making reference to His undisputable sovereign authority. See also Psa. 24:1.

And has begun to reign, is a reference to Gods final application of judgment over evil and its termination from history.

The ultimate reign of Christ over all the earth is not dependent on any human event or activity of human history, nor on the establishment of the current Church, or any other church, nor on anything affected by humanity.

Christ’s reign ultimately begins historically when the final judgments against evil are initiated, thus defeating and removing evil and its rule.

Jesus Christ controls history. The plan of God is the blueprint of history, which is never altered and never changed despite the efforts of humans and angels to cause changes, to their own liking.

Gods plan reflects all of Satan’s and mans efforts and plans, and ultimately Satan’s and mans failure to bring their own destiny into being.

Mans plans destroy everything. Gods plan preserves and perpetuates blessings, happiness’s, and completeness in those who subscribe to His will.
