25 In [en] meekness [praotes] instructing [paideuo] those

25 with
gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant
them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, NASB
Today, the word meek, implies a timid or submissive personality.
But in Pauls day, meek, or 'praotes,' is used in the connection with the breaking or taming of a colt for riding. And if you know anything about horses, then you know that their knees must be locked before they can be ridden (at about 1-2 years of age), but at the same time their halter training and such begins at a much earlier age. Even training for riding and reining continues for some time after they are saddle broke.
Therefore, the meekness of Pauls day, means more of a gentle and patient and confident approach to a matter.
Jesus was said to be meek, and that was in this context as well. Jesus, as God had multiple legions of angels at His disposal. He could have ended life as we know it. However, Jesus had a mission, and a confidence and a patience to continue in Gods plan without breaking out into some other direction.
Therefore, when being confronted be confident. Do not get upset. Do not engage in or be pulled into an argument that was never intended to be resolved in truth.
All arguments of evil, are in effect against itself. Wicked people are the enemy of themselves more so than they are of anyone else. They can only influence the naïve, and you will not be naïve if you are consistent with your daily studies.
The only time you risk being drawn into the evil vortex, is if you drift away from your daily studies.
And do not underestimate the power of evil. Once you drift, your whole life and future are at extreme risk.
Any confrontation can easily make you defensive and that can cause you to stumble in to the pit of spiritual failure. Beware of the fast and smooth talking opposition to truth.
Know your doctrine, understand your doctrine, and remain fast in your knowledge of truth. Your confidence and clarity of thought just may bring a potential spiritual opponent over to truth.
In contrast to your confident poise, is the confident poise of evil. Many a fast talking promoter of false ideas can exhibit the same meekness, but their position is based on deceit. Whereas the believer promotes truth to be weighed and either accepted or rejected as one might choose, but on the other hand the evil argument requires immediate acceptance or else intimidation tactics will result.
God, not the believer, initiates discipline or judgment against those who reject truth, but on Gods terms.
Evil initiates retaliation at the convenience of people, when their argument of evil is rejected.
