You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth. 1 John 5:9-12 9 If [ei] we receive [lambano] the witness [marturia] of men [anthropos], the witness [marturia] of God [theos] is [esti] greater [meizon]: for [hoti] this [houtos] is [esti] the witness [marturia] of God [theos] which [hos] he hath testified [martureo] of [peri] his [autos] Son [huios]. 10 He that believeth [pisteuo] on [eis] the Son [huios] of God [theos] hath [echo] the witness [marturia] in [en] himself [heautou]: he that believeth [pisteuo] not [me] God [theos] hath made [poieo] him [autos] a liar [pseustes]; because [hoti] he believeth [pisteuo] not [ou] [eis] the record [marturia] that [hos] God [theos] gave [martureo] of [peri] his [autos] Son [huios]. 11 And [kai] this [houtos] is [esti] the record [marturia], that [hoti] God [theos] hath given [didomi] to us [hemin] eternal [aionios] life [zoe], and [kai] this [houtos] life [zoe] is [esti] in [en] his [autos] Son [huios]. 12 He that hath [echo] the Son [huios] hath [echo] life [zoe]; and he that hath [echo] not [me] the Son [huios] of God [theos] hath [echo] not [ou] life [zoe]. KJV-Interlinear 9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for the witness of God is this, that He has borne witness concerning His Son. 10 The one who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the witness that God has borne concerning His Son. 11 And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. NASB Salvation and eternal life is not given to the entire human race based on its popularity or based on popular opinion, but is given to individuals, one on one, by God to each person who believes in Christ. If in the course of life mankind will accept the witness of common human beings in a court proceeding, and even in the court of public opinion, wherein the pattern of life even in this world is filled with many flaws, biases and so forth. If witnesses are accepted when the participants of legal proceedings are among those who might be biased, prejudiced, incompetent, or even have alternate agendas, when legal processes in this world can fall into the category of the unfair, the ridiculous, or the bizarre. Then, mankind should always accept the witness of God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, and all the evidences of Gods existence in this universe, simply because Gods witness is infinitely greater than any witness of mankind. Man is flawed. Man is incapable of resolving problems in a just manner, and yet man looks to man for solutions. God is perfect. God is incapable of reaching unjust solutions. His Word is true, and fair, and honest. Therefore, no one has any reason for not accepting Gods testimony as to the person of Christ. If man's testimony can be accepted when adequately attested, Deut. 19:15, then Gods testimony, being much greater, should also be accepted. Each believer has Gods truth in his heart. In contrast, anyone who disbelieves God has made Him out to be a liar. Any unbeliever who rejects Christ is calling God a liar. Likewise, any believer who rejects the concept of the spiritual life, is calling Gods spiritual plan a lie as well. This is the opposition of God and Christ which will ultimately lead the individual into a miserable life. John makes it very clear that there is no middle ground, no suspension of opinion. One either believes or he impugns Gods veracity. To accept human witness and to reject divine witness is the quintessence of human hypocrisy and stupidity. Gods testimony is simply this. If you believe in Jesus Christ, then you are saved. If you do not believe in Christ, then you are not saved. It is as simple as that. Also extend this concept into the spiritual realm of believers. If you are obedient to Gods commands and are advancing in your spiritual life, then you will advance to spiritual maturity and to the winners circle of life. If you reject the spiritual life, then you will go to the losers circle.
