Truth Cries Out
Truth Cries Out
John 12:36-38

36 While [heos] ye have [echo] light [phos] , believe [pisteuo] in [eis] the light [phos] , that [hina] ye may be [ginomai] the children [huios] of light [phos] . These things [tauta] spake [laleo] Jesus [Iesous] , and departed [aperchomai] , and [kai] did hide himself [krupto] from [apo] them [autos] .
37 But [de] though he [autos] had done [poieo] so many [tosoutos] miracles [semeion] before [emprosthen] them [autos] , yet they believed [pisteuo] not [ou] on [eis] him [autos] :
38 That [hina] the saying [logos] of Esaias [Hesaias] the prophet [prophetes] might be fulfilled [pleroo] , which [hos] he spake [epo] , Lord [kurios] , who [tis] hath believed [pisteuo] our [hemon] report [akoe] ? and [kai] to whom [tis] hath the arm [brachion] of the Lord [kurios] been revealed [apokalupto] ? KJV-Interlinear

36 'While you have the light, believe in the light, in order that you may become sons of light.' These things Jesus spoke, and He departed and hid Himself from them. 37 But though He had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him; 38 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, 'Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?' NASB

Light is the only means by which we can observe and be certain of a thing. We can reason. We can theorize, but seeing is the best way of being convinced and brought to a belief of the facts of any matter.

Without light (the means of determining or navigating), then a person is in the dark. Darkness is the absence of tools with which to make ones way through life. If you were going somewhere without a map, without a compass, without any reference marks to guide you, without light, then how could you possibly get to your destination? You could not. And that is the point.

Bible doctrine is our map, compass, light, etc., all the tools we need to travel through life successfully and safely. And, come out winners for eternity, the next phase of our life.

Jesus tells the crowd (and us) to believe such that we might become sons. But not just any sons, but adult first born sons. And adult son is a mature son with wisdom. A first born son is the recipient of the inheritance, the double portion.

So we not only must believe in order to get into the family of God. And I mean believe in Christ, for that is the means of being saved. Once you have believed in Christ, then several things happen to you simultaneously. Things that you cannot sense (see, feel, touch and so forth) because they are spiritual phenomena, not physical events. Spiritual phenomena cannot be measured by human mechanisms of any kind.

Once born into the family of God, we cannot leave it. Once born into a family you become a part of that family forever. You might reject your family, you might change your name, but you cannot change your genetics. So once born into a family then there you are stuck. Being born into Gods family is permanent. There you will remain forever, and you cannot ever lose that membership nor have it taken away.

Once in the family, then you must grow up (or you should anyway). Just as children grow up physically and mentally, so too believers begin their life in Gods family as spiritual infants. We grow up spiritually by means of learning Bible doctrine and growing up in accordance with the mechanism of spiritual growth which God has defined and given to us. Note our study in Isa. 11:1 and Rev. 1, the seven spirits.

Our objective in life then, is to become an adult (spiritually mature) child of God. All of the really cool benefits above and beyond the blessings of the average child, will go to the mature and wise and responsible children.

And to those who wish to be indifferent, to those who wish to be argumentative, to those who which to be quarrelsome, to those who wish to be in opposition to God, what waits for them?

Jesus turned away and left them. He hid from them.

These people were stiff necked and quarrelsome. They were not interested in their spiritual life or in the spiritual benefits which Jesus can provide for anyone and everyone. They were only interested in arguing. 'Where is this Son of Man?'

The signs of His identity were overwhelming. The word for 'signs' here means innumerable signs. Jesus performed so many miracles small and great, that there could be no question that this was not normal nor even an accident of nature. Just glance at the last verse in John 21:25, 'And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books which were written.' NASB

People in life, have no excuse. God provides evidence and proof of Himself and His plan for mankind, and the means of getting to His objective for each one of us, spiritual maturity, that we can only attribute our failure to reach it, to our own stubborn unwillingness. Each of us is our own worst enemy. Not the world, not our environment, nothing but our own refusal to decide correctly for Gods plan for our lives.

Isa. 53:1, who has heard? Everyone. Who has responded? Not many. Who has an excuse? None.
