Human Works Earns Nothing

5 For [gar] when [hote] we were [en] in [en] the flesh [sarx], the motions [pathema] of sins [hamartia], which [ho] were by [dia] the law [nomos], did work [energeo] in [en] our [hemon] members [melos] to bring [eis] forth fruit [karpophoreo] unto death [thanatos].   KJV-Interlinear

5 For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death.  ESV

Far too many people do not know, even as they pretend to know, what a true spiritual function is. They are not interested in listening, they are not interested in learning, they are not interested in receiving instruction, as God requires.

A desire to know God’s will, has to exist before a person will actually pursue the learning of God’s will.

And in this world, the arrogance of indifference, and pretense, and opinions without true knowledge, virtually saturate society.

And this is why so many people fail in their spiritual life, even as they do not realize that they are failing, because of their refusal, or resistance, toward receiving instruction in the word of God.

The phrases, in the flesh, motions of sins, by the law, work in our members, are all non-spiritual references of carnal, or sin nature activity. This is the realm in which everyone lives, when they don’t comply with Gods mandates for living the spiritual life.

There are two types of production in a persons life.

The first type of production, comes from the sin nature, which the Bible typically refers to as wood, hay, and stubble. This is a production of nothingness, or bearing fruit for death. Death being the sphere of nothingness.

You can work, and hustle, or pretend and be sincere throughout your entire life. But all this work, or production as it were, which comes from the energy of the flesh, is a work for nothing.

Aroused by the law, does not mean that law causes empty production, but the law merely discloses and defines empty production. We simply call this works, or human works, which amount to nothing.

Any production, which does not attach to the soul, and does not perpetuate into eternity, is empty and worthless and dead works.

Spiritual production, the second type of production, typically referred to in the Bible as gold, silver, and precious stones, carries with it a connotation of intrinsic value. Or a production that attaches to the soul, and perpetuates into eternity.

Spiritual production, is that activity which occurs while a believer in Christ, is in fellowship.

Fellowship is a status of the individual after they have confessed their sins to God the Father.

Anything you do while in fellowship, is spiritual production. This includes your prayers, your Bible study, your daily activities in work or play. Everything done while in fellowship, is referred to as the energy of the spirit, as opposed to the energy of the flesh.

While production of the flesh, is production for nothing, or production for death, conversely, production of the spirit, is production with extreme and intrinsic value, and production for life.

These studies are a part of the massive daily study web site at DailyBibeStudy.Org, and are written, so that you can come to Christ if you have not done so already, and therefore not be lost forever.

And if you have already believed in Christ, then these studies are written so you can learn and understand and grow in your spiritual life, so that you can come to the full knowledge of Christ, so that you can fulfill your meaning and purpose in life as God intended for you, and so you can qualify for a phenomenal eternal reward which you will have forever.

To ignore this opportunity to pursue a daily study means you will be incomplete, unfulfilled and you will lose out, big time.

The Daily Bible Study is online, making it possible as never before in all of human history, to advance in ones relationship with God, through Christ, and to complete yourself beyond your imagination.

But each person has to decide to make that commitment. No one else can study for you. You have to do that yourself.

Keep in the Word, Isa. 41:10.
