Long Ago
Long, long ago, before time began
Lived the Spirit of God, and the destiny of man
God pondered and figured, the best course to take
For angel and man, even those who’d forsake
With a twinkle in His eye, the command of His voice
All the angels came forth, with their shouts of rejoice
And that is not all, space was empty and void
So God made a playground, the universe deployed
But time and temper took their great toll
As one that was mighty, turned dark in his soul
The conflict was on, the challenge was clear
God on the one hand, the Devil austere
No one to turn, no one to trust
God made His offer, turn now or be dust
Into fire and brimstone, no future for you
Apart from God, just eternal curfew
The challenge continued, what gives you the right
To make us or break us, with all of your might
A planet was found, to settle the score
A planet with life, plants, animals and more
But Satan tried, as best as he could
And lost all life, on the ground where they stood
God packed it in ice, in a neat little ball
And the planet stood dark, awaiting His call
Soon dark was made light, the world was restored
As angels were wondering, at the work of His sword
Much was familiar, the mammal and tree
But what was this new life, what good would it be
A funny odd thing, two legs and a head
No wings, no claws, t’would be better off dead
God gave it affection, and promised it all
Ah, the key to this conflict, was to make this man fall
So plotting and waiting, and killing the time
Satan worked with deception, to gain this mans crime
And Adam did fall, and the battle was won
Satan took all his bows, against Father, Spirit, and Son
But to his surprise, He had not but begun
His own downfall to Hell, with the promise of a Son
Centuries came, and centuries went
The family of man, over doctrine was sent
Some came to hear, some came to see
The family of God, not for all was to be
Try as he will, Satan pressed his attack
But the line of the Son, he could not beat back
Then one dark winter night, did angels appear
Announcing to all, that Immanuel is here
His back nearly broken, Satan tried from his spite
Like a dragon in rage, to pounce with his might
The infant was Christ, Lord God of all
Satan was finished, just ready to fall
Some teaching, some training, some answered the call
Believe on the Lord, or you too will lose all
Most turned their ear, away from the truth
They struck at His hands, rejected reproof
The trial complete, sins all judged away
Jesus lay down His life, for a short three day stay
Arise all you fools, arise if you’re lost
Arise as He did, after paying the cost
A family to raise, royal bride to take seat
For Christ, He will wait, til her fulness complete
Then sudden as thunder and lightening do sound
He’ll whisk her away, and she won’t be around
The terrors that lay, for those left behind
The trials, and tortures, on all of mankind
Tis blessing from God, that all is cut short
For man could not bear, that final great report
In the darkest of hours, Satan rallies in fear
Christ on His war horse, will in triumph appear
The blast of His power, authority true
Will still all of Satan’s, wickedness brew
A thousand years perfect, a thousand years new
Salvation’s still needed, maturity too
Man’s final end, will certainly come
For all who believe, all others deaths drum
Another beginning, a new heaven and earth
Believe on the Son, it’s your destinies birth
