When wise leadership takes control of government and leads the people, then the realization and understanding of truth will be more prevalent, if not more universal, throughout society. This situation has not yet occurred in history. It will only occur when Jesus Christ returns at the second advent, and establishes His kingdom here on earth.
This verse establishes the possibility of understanding.
The statement here is, them that see, and them that hear.
People have been able to see and hear truth, throughout all of human history. The unfortunate reality is that most people are not interested in seeing or hearing truth. Most people are only interested in things that are convenient, or seemingly advantageous, to their current way of life, or their current way of thinking. And changing from old habits, seems to be just too much trouble.
When Christ returns at the second advent, and establishes His kingdom, the only people that will be alive at that time, will be those who have believed in Him, and have survived the tribulation, because Christ rescued them.
God’s kingdom here on earth, will begin with believers only.
And certainly after the dramatic events of the second advent, then people will be more than willing to see and hear Him, as well as be with Him, at that time.
We know from our study of Revelation, that during His 1000 year reign, people will begin to drift away from Christ and from truth. And toward the end of the millennium, there will be a huge population of people that will not have believed in Christ as their Savior, despite His presence here on earth.
But the point of this verse, is that seeing and understanding, are always available. It does not take dramatic events to cause a person to change their attitude or their beliefs, but unfortunately, dramatic events are often necessary, in order to get people to see their flaws and failures.
Anyone who wants to know truth, and wants to understand truth, is able to accomplish that.
The desire to get on the right track, resides with each person.
Failure to be able to see and understand, is directly related to a person’s lack of desire in wanting to see and understand truth. You have to want it first.
