8 When
thou saidst, Seek [baqash] ye my face [paniym]; my
heart [leb] said ['amar] unto thee, Thy face [paniym],
LORD [Yahovah], will I seek [baqash]. KJV-Interlinear
8 When Thou
didst say, "Seek My face," my heart said to Thee, "Thy face, O
Lord, I shall seek." NASB
God has commanded in the scriptures, ‘seek my face,’ reflecting the commands from 1 Chron 16:11, and Deut 4:29.
To seek God’s face, is a phrase that means, genuinely desire and pursue knowledge and understanding and wisdom, and a relationship with God that adds meaning and purpose and design to one’s own life.
The heart, is symbolism and a descriptive term, for the thoughts and intents activity of the soul.
What you think is what you are. And you cannot think in spiritual terms, unless you have spiritual information in your head.
David’s heart, or the thoughts of his soul, contained what he has learned from the scriptures.
And the only way he learned anything from the scriptures, was by reading them, but more importantly by being taught their content.
We are commanded to seek God. The only way you can seek God, is through a daily study from instruction, of the word of God.
You cannot wish knowledge on yourself. You cannot pretend knowledge within yourself. You cannot gain spiritual knowledge unless you are taught, and learn it while in fellowship.
There is only one God. There is only one Savior. There is only one faith. There is only one way to grow up in the spiritual life. There is only one way to learn doctrine.
Anyone who shirks these mandates of God, is a fool, is a pretender, and ultimately will be a failure.
Anyone who pursues God by means of gimmicks, or games, or clubs, or socially acceptable activities, is likewise a fool, and a pretender, which may impress people, but does not impress God.
God looks on the soul, and examines its content.
Pretense and superficiality produce an empty soul.
God is impressed by only one thing, which is his word. Therefore, assimilate doctrine into your soul, for that is the only way that you will gain acceptance from God.
