You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
2 Send [shalach] thee help [`ezer] from the sanctuary, [qodesh]
and strengthen [ca`ad] thee out of Zion; [Tsiyown] KJV-Interlinear
2 May He
send you help from the sanctuary, And support you from Zion! NASB
The sanctuary is the place of Gods residence. It is a sacred place, a holy place, a consecrated place. It is the place where the believer may approach God.
This is a reference symbolically, to the temple, to the tabernacle, to the inner room in the tabernacle which was called the holy of holies. This is the place where the believer may approach God, may interact with God, and can receive Gods blessings or favor also called Gods grace.
The earthly temple or tabernacle was made of brick and mortar and wood and such earthly materials. However, not all people have an opportunity to go to some church or otherwise a place that is considered by society, as holy.
There is a true holy place or sanctuary, and that place is the fellowship sphere, which is a spiritual environment within the soul of the believer. That place is entered by means of confession, and left by means of sin.
And it should be clear that help comes to you by means of your spiritual life, and by no other means.
Your spiritual life functions and is operational only when you are in fellowship. Fellowship is the true sanctuary in this world. Any and all churches or synagogues, or mosques and such are not worth any more than the material they were constructed with. They do not function as a contact with God, and prayer or anything spiritual does not work better when you are inside of a church.
Your spiritual life is not and never will be dependent on or governed by, any constructed building in this world.
Your state of mind is the ultimate determining factor as to the effectiveness of your spiritual life.
Strength out of Zion, is a reference to the content and growth of your spiritual life. Zion also represents the residence of God, but it also represents the policy and government of God.
Zion is a mountain inside of the city of Jerusalem. Jerusalem stands for and represents the city of peace.
The cross was outside of the city. The cross represents the work of Christ and salvation.
Once saved, then you have access to the doctrine that exists inside the city on Mt. Zion. Zion represents the vast source of truth.
Daily study and consistent spiritual growth enable you to advance to spiritual maturity, or a state of inner peace. That is represented by residence inside the city of Jerusalem, the city of peace.
So, these places are actual physical places, like the temple, the city, the mountain and such, but they are there to represent and teach spiritual principles.
And here we have two of the most important principles, namely the sanctuary or place where you have access and a hearing and a conversation with God. That is when you are in fellowship, which you possess when you confess your sins. Fellowship is the place of all help and interaction, or your functional spiritual activity with God, directly with God.
Your spiritual strength results from doctrine. Zion represents the vast resources of truth which are made available to you, when you are in fellowship.
Your daily study while in fellowship causes the construction of a temple or sanctuary or fortress within your soul.
The application of that doctrine to your daily life, and again while in fellowship, builds productivity within your soul.
And the two, when repeated throughout your daily life, become your effective spiritual exercise and muscle building program that builds up your confidence, your faith, your stability, your inner happiness.
