11 Thou
wilt shew [yada`] me the path ['orach] of
life: [chay] in thy presence [paniym] is fulness [soba`] of joy; [simchah] at thy right hand [yamiyn]
there are pleasures [na`iym] for evermore. [netsach] KJV-Interlinear
11 Thou
wilt make known to me the path of life; In Thy presence is fulness of joy; In
Thy right hand there are pleasures forever. NASB
How did this psalm begin?
It began with a statement that these words, not only the words of this psalm but all words from God, meaning the scriptures, are so, so important, that they are worthy of being engraved using gold such that they would last forever, to benefit everyone.
Before you were born, you did not exist. You were nothing and you had nothing. Even having a few years of life, even a few decades of life does not qualify you in any form of wisdom.
But God, in eternity past set forth a very detailed plan, one which is called the divine decrees, which not only included you and your entire life, from birth into eternity, but it included all human beings, all of their possible interactions, all of their possible circumstances, all of their thoughts and intents and actions, individually and collectively, for all of history for all of the ages.
By definition, the divine decrees are Gods eternal, holy, wise, and sovereign purpose, comprehending at once all things that ever were or will be, in their causes, courses, conditions, successions, and relations, and determining their certain future.
God planned in detail, a certain and phenomenal inheritance for you. He set out a plan that while you would live and die in this world, you would not be left in the land of the dead, but would have a guaranteed path back to life.
And not to life back in this world, but a path to life in heaven with God.
And, not just a path back to life in heaven with God, but a life at Gods very own right hand. The highest and single most valued place of honor in all of existence.
The path is the guarantee of resurrection. The path is not a continuation of an existence in the land of the dead, but back to life. A path back to a living and breathing life. Breathing does not exist with the dead.
In the presence of God, means face to face in heaven where God lives. You must be in heaven in order to be face to face with God.
In the fullness of joy. And here is the real objective. Joy in its total fullness, is not the joy of this life where happiness has its ups and downs, where happiness has to share the stage with the burdens of life, where happiness is temporary and comes and goes, where happiness runs with or contrary to, all given circumstances of life.
There is no joy in death. In death there is nothing.
But in life, in life in heaven, in life in heaven at Gods right hand, is the quintessence of happiness which knows no sorrow, knows nothing that is contrary to happiness.
And that awaits anyone who is willing to knuckle down and get with Gods plan for their life.
That plan requires you to comply with Gods mandates. To believe in Christ for salvation, to study to show yourself mature, to value doctrine as you value nothing else in life, to be productive in your spiritual life by applying the principles of doctrine to your daily life, to residing in fellowship by means of confession, to accept and be obedient to the obligations and responsibilities placed on you, by God, and expected of you, absent of excuses.
To do that which is right in Gods eyes, not yours.
And with that, there will be many pleasures above and beyond your ability to even begin to imagine, and they will last forever.
