Isaiah 29:12
http://www.dailybiblestudy.org
12 And the book [cepher] is delivered [nathan] to him that is not learned [yada`] [cepher], saying ['amar], Read [qara'] this, I pray thee: and he saith ['amar], I am not learned [yada`]. KJV-Interlinear
12 And when they give the book to one who cannot read, saying, “Read this,” he says, “I cannot read.” ESV
There are two important principles in this verse. But first we are getting very near to the description of phony people. People who profess Christianity, but do not comply with Christian mandates. And most folks do not even have a clue as to what those mandates are.
And why do you suppose that is?
If you have been following this study, then you already know.
But then back to the two principles.
First, people who do not learn Bible doctrine, or better yet, people who do not abide by the spiritual process that God has defined, then by default lack clarity of thought and lack understanding. They can look at the Bible, but will remain clueless as to its meaning and purpose.
And as for the second principle, there are always those who want someone else to do their reading and studying and assume their responsibilities, for them.
They ask, teach me. The state, I want to know.
But the studies are there, right in front of them, yet they will not lift a finger to seek them out. They want someone else to do their effort. And if no one stands up to do what they are supposed to be doing themselves, then they simply don’t make the effort.
It is the quintessence of academic laziness.
They won’t go to class, won’t open the book, won’t read the material, won’t study or memorize, won’t do anything.
