7 Thus [koh] saith ['amar] the Lord ['Adonay] GOD, [Yahovih] It shall not stand, [quwm]
neither shall it come to pass.KJV-Interlinear
7 thus says
the Lord God, "It shall not stand nor shall it come to pass. NASB
In the previous verse the design of the kings were to remove Ahaz, to remove the line of David, and put in his place someone of their choosing. A name on which there is no documentation except the meaning of the name.
And in contrast there is the name of David, his dynasty and rich history, and the choice of God, not man.
And so in the previous verse we had, thus says these two kings, etc., etc., etc.
And now we have, thus says the Lord.
Which statement do you suppose will be accomplished?
As this chapter unfolds, it will be clear that the future of both Syria and Samaria, will soon come to an end, and the future of Judah, will continue beyond their histories. Their dynasties will end, but the dynasty of Gods choice will continue forever.
All of this is intended to comfort Ahaz, since the nation will continue beyond his reign and will not become a part of Syria or Samaria nor will the dynasty of David come to an end, but that comfort will be limited, in that the future of Judah likewise will have a difficult road to follow, but that is due to the poor choices of the people of Judah, unfortunately.
