2 in the middle of its street. And on either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. NASB

The street, 'plateia,' means a wide or broad path or place. And the river of eternal provision travels a wide path. This implies and signifies its capability of providing for everyone.

Along the street, which is the street or path of the river, from God to man, is the tree of life. The tree is located on both sides of the river. The river signifying the eternal provision from God, and the tree of life signifying the eternal blessings derived from God.

All good things come from God, and from no other source.

The tree of life bears twelve different kinds of fruit, bears health giving leaves, and it produces continuously throughout the year. That is, every month. It has no season in which is does not produce.

The number twelve comes up in the Bible as a reference to the twelve sons of Jacob, who was renamed Israel, and to the twelve apostles who by symbolism make reference to the person of Christ.

Israel is the name of the nation of Gods chosen people and they (we) exist only as a result of Christs work on the Cross, through which we receive eternal life through salvation, by faith in Christ, and as a result we become the recipients of eternal blessing.

The fruit has been used in the scriptures to refer to the production of a good tree, and also the production of the believer. Thus good trees produce good fruit, and the use of the twelve describes the universal nature of that good production belonging to everyone. There is the tradition of the twelve tribes of Israel, therefore no tribe, no segment of the nation, is excluded. No believer is excluded from eternal life. No believer is excluded from eternal blessing. All believers are members and citizens of the single overall nation of Gods people.

The leaves, 'phullon,' on the tree refer to the health giving, therapeutic, or life giving nature they provide. Leaves have been used in the bible to refer to three different things.

First, to trees or a coming up or growing up for prosperity and blessing, Gen 3:7; 8:11; Lev 26:36, Ezek 17:9, Ezek 47:12, Rev 22:2, Ps 1:3.

Second, leaves are used to refer to a book in columns or as a parchment that can be gradually opened up to reveal successive columns which could be read, Jer. 36:23.

Third, leaves are used to refer to doors, a side, a hanging partition. The doors of the Holy place consisted of two halves with two leaves on each half, 1 Kg. 6:34, Ezek. 41:24.

All three of these references come to mean the word of God, which has been made to be magnified above His own person, or namely Bible doctrine, through which we have all access to knowledge and wisdom and to God Himself. Which, through doctrine, brings growth, prosperity and access to God and to all that is available in life and eternity.

In eternity there is no sun or moon to provide light or the days and seasons, and therefore time is not monitored as we do now. Though there is no reference to days or months in heaven for eternity, at least not that has been revealed to us, there will no longer be a night. This is therefore language of convenience for our benefit, such that we can understand that the provision from God, His spiritual support, etc., is consistent, and continuous. It comes to us without limit.

Isa. 12:3
3 Therefore you will joyously draw water From the springs of salvation. NASB

John 7:38
38 'He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.'' NASB

The eternal river flowing from God, will be a limitless and continual flow of knowledge, wisdom, health, prosperity, and life.
