Revelation 14:2

2 And[kai] I heard[akouo] a voice[phone] from[ek] heaven,[ouranos] as[hos] the voice[phone] of many[polus] waters,[hudor] and[kai] as[hos] the voice[phone] of a great[megas] thunder: [bronte] and[kai] I heard[akouo] the voice[phone] of harpers[kitharodos] harping[kitharizo] with[en] their[autos] harps:[kithara] KJV-Interlinear

2 And I heard a voice from heaven, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder, and the voice which I heard was like the sound of harpists playing on their harps. NASB

And now John describes a growing crescendo of sound in heaven. A victory song, a victory praise. A victory worship for God and Christ for all that He has done for the defeat of evil and for the benefit and blessing of believers throughout history.

The contrast is being painted.

On the earth is evil and disaster, murder and torture, pain and suffering, bias and prejudice beyond imagination, starvation and death indescribable. Believers are literally pouring into heaven due to the persecutions occurring on the earth.

On the earth is a horrible life that is beyond description.

But in Heaven, there is a growing song of praise, the sound of many waters, or many components. If you have ever attended a concert where there is a small group, joined by a larger group, joined by a choir and so forth. And as each component joins the music production the sound grows and grows into a well orchestrated display of music and sound.

And although this is not a concert being described, the sound or song, in heaven begins with the elders, Rev. 5:9, who are joined by the myriads of angels, Rev. 5:12, to be next joined by every living thing, Rev. 5:13, next joined by the Tribulation martyrs, Rev. 7:9-10, including the Old Testament believers, and the song grows and grows as the Tribulation advances on toward its inevitable end.

The voice of harpists is an expression that means that this song of praise and worship, of victory and promise, has continuity and structure and meaning and purpose and everyone is on the same page.

Whereas, on the earth, everyone is fighting an everyman for himself battle just to survive.
