10 Ye observe [paratereo] days [hemera], and [kai] months [men], and [kai] times [kairos], and [kai] years [eniautos].  KJV-Interlinear

10 You observe days and months and seasons and years. NASB

Man is easily impressed by the things of man. Man is easily impressed by the things in his environment around him. Man is easily impressed by the things he thinks others are impressed with, and especially impressed with himself.

It takes far less activity, but far more wisdom, to be impressed with the things of God.

Paul’s criticism of the Galatians, among other things, is spelled out here in their observance, and more particularly their intense observance, of the rituals that were specified in the mosaic law, as well as the many more rituals that were added to that law down through the centuries to the time Christ.

The mention of days, months, seasons and years applies to the various ritual festivals and feasts and celebrations that the Israelites and later on the Jewish people observed throughout their history.

They had missed the whole point that the purpose of these rituals, was to teach of the promised Savior to come, and to the details of his work on the cross which was portrayed by all of the animal sacrifices, as well as the need for confession and spiritual synchronization between the individual believer and God, by means of the Savior.

The mosaic law was a compilation of written doctrine that pointed forward to the work of the cross.

Once Christ had come, and completed his work on the cross, then the mosaic law as a ritual component of one’s daily life, was abrogated and no longer of use. Once the work of the cross had been completed, then a new standard came into view. And that new standard was faith through Christ, and Bible doctrine was the substance, or rather is the substance, that manufactures that faith and sustains that faith.

Faith is an internal attribute that is a constructed component of your very essence. Bible doctrine, studied and learned and understood becomes the substance components of your spiritual life, that likewise is an internal attribute of your soul, contained within you and becomes an integral part of your very life.

Observing days, performing rituals, doing or saying things that appear before others, are external to your soul, external to your life, and therefore are thin and shallow, and typically are forms of pretense useful only for others when observing you.

With Bible doctrine in your soul, then your spiritual life becomes an integral part of your essence, and external observances or activities, are not necessary for the maintenance of your spiritual life.

Your spiritual life depends on Bible doctrine in your soul, and the construction of your spiritual complex within your soul that becomes an integral part of your life.

Faith builds on the substance of doctrine within your soul, not on the superficiality of external observances. God examines the content of your soul, not the activities on your calendar, or how you intend to impress others.
