6 one God
and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. NASB
The subject of this chapter has been the uniqueness and unity of the Christian family. That unity can only be made possible when there is but one set of attributes or set of characteristics that are likewise unique and apply equally to each and every member of the Christian family.
There are not numerous sets of characteristics, that apply some to some and others to others, rendering the family as disjointed in some fashion.
Here we have but one Father, the one and only and highest power and authority, and deity over all others.
But we know that the Christian God is three in personality. One God, in three persons. Not one God with three personalities, but actually three persons. This is called the Trinity.
Each and every member of the Trinity, Father, Son and Spirit, all possess the same essence. All possess the same characteristics. All are co-equal, co-infinite, and co-eternal. However the Christian God, perform three individual roles in carrying out the divine plan of God.
One member adopted the role of the Father, one member adopted the role of the Son, and the last member adopted the role of the Spirit. All three are God with none being the greater nor the lesser than the others.
The purpose of this arrangement was to defeat arrogance. God set up a plan requiring all who approach the Father, to approach through the Son and in the power of the Spirit and by no other means. Arrogance detests this arrangement and perceives that the Father is the greater and the Son and the Spirit are somehow lesser, and arrogance wants to be like the most high, being insulted at the requirement of having to go through someone else, in order to get to the Father.
One of the reasons that arrogance is so foolish is by its rejecting such a simple requirement. And why all religions are so foolish because they are ruled by arrogance.
And so Christianity is set apart from all others. And this is why Christianity possesses a unique unity, in that there is but one standard, not several, one faith, not several, one God, not several, and one plan, not several.
God is above all things and all creatures. God exists throughout all of creation and beyond. There is no other God, no other realm.
God is in all. And that is a reference to Gods indwelling of every believer. The subject of this chapter is the Christian family.
God is in you right now. He is unseen, unfelt, undetectable, and one day that will change in eternity, but for now, there are no such things as emotional or physical or sensory or perceptions of any kind.
