You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

13 In Him,
you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation
— having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of
promise, NASB
In whom, meaning Jesus Christ who is the means of our salvation, then we heard, for it through hearing that we come to know of salvation, or Christ, or of our jeopardy in sin, and our opportunity that God makes available to us.
God presents the gospel, the information related to our salvation. We hear it, for that is the only thing that makes any sense to any unbeliever. Before you were saved, you were an unbeliever and destined for the Lake of Fire.
You were at great risk prior to salvation, and probably did not realize it.
Therefore, God presents the gospel, we hear it, then we believe it and then as a result of that belief, we are saved.
What then occurs is a sealing action, by God. God seals our salvation.
Seal, 'sphragizo,' means to stamp or seal with a private and legal mark for security and/or preservation forever.
This sealing means that our faith is recognized and permanently recorded and sealed forever. This is eternal security. You can neither lose it nor have it removed, nor even throw it away. Once recorded it becomes permanent.
It is the same as when you were born. When you were born a birth certificate was generated. Your birth cannot be lost nor removed nor reversed. It happened and cannot be un-happened. You cannot un-born yourself. Once it occurred it cannot be reversed or erased, regardless of what you wish or think or believe.
Salvation is irreversible, and it is permanent.
This sealing is a function of the Holy Spirit, and is herein stated. The Holy Spirit resides within every person who believes in Christ. It is His indwelling that is witness to this sealing and certainty and security of your salvation.
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit is permanent. You cannot feel Him, nor detect Him, nor sense Him in any way, regardless of how many folks out there who try to create some sort of Holy Spirit experience. They are phony and their experience is phony.
The spiritual life is separate and apart from the physical life.
Likewise you are indwelled by the other two members of the Godhead, but that is documented elsewhere. Try reviewing the blessings list found in the special studies section of the online Bible study library.
