1 Timothy 2:13
13 For [gar] Adam [Adam] was [plasso] first [protos] formed, [plasso] then [eita] Eve. [Eua] KJV-Interlinear
13 For it was
Adam who was first created, and then Eve. NASB
From the very outset of
the creation of humanity, and even before that, from before the creation of the
angels, God established rules for everyone.
We call those rules, the Laws of Divine Establishment.
The intent of those
rules are to provide humanity with fundamental
principles of life, that will contribute to the order and stability of society.
The very first law is
that of volition. The second law is that of authority, which is in view here. The third law is that of marriage. Between these three, you have the basis for a
successful society.
Volition is the making
of good decisions based on truth, which is doctrine.
Authority is the
coordination through which society can function, without stumbling all over
itself. The basic authority is of course
God, and our access to God through Christ.
Disregard of this principle is the basis for religion, and other systems
of belief, which reject Gods authority principle.
It is also the foundation
for law and order, and due process, for court procedure and so forth. It applies in traffic conditions whereby you
must obey the many traffic laws for driving, traffic lights and signs, etc.,
etc., etc.
And it all started when
God created Adam first. That sets the
precedent for Adams authority over Eve.
But really establishes the principle of authority.
Adam was created first
and then Eve was created.Eve came onto
the scene as the helper of Adam. The
creation account is described in Gen. 2.
This does not discount
what we have already been studying, but we will need to cover the next two
verses in order to tie everything together.
Remember our overall
subject.It is not womans
subordination to man, but the need for one to focus on the completion of ones own soul. And that
requires a voluntary subordination of ones self, to the
authority of Bible doctrine.
And that does not mean
that you can make up your own rules for what or how or when you study, but you
must follow Gods rules for the study process, and not your own. Thus the application of being silent (not
disruptive or doing your own thing).
Subordination does not mean
inferior. There are a lot of rules
representing authority in society.The military
has a hierarchal structure based on authority, business has a structure, sports
activities have rules, there are even rules for
dating. In fact there is probably not
one aspect of society that does not have some sort of rule or observance which
guides it.And in none of these, are you
considered inferior, just because you participate or are involved in them. Authority is merely a system for establishing
a framework or environment for maintaing order and
preventing chaos in life.
