1 Timothy 2:6
6 Who [ho] gave [didomi] himself [heautou] a ransom [antilutron] for [huper] all, [pas] to be testified [marturion] in due [idios] time. [kairos] KJV-Interlinear
6 who gave Himself as a ransom
for all, the testimony borne at the proper time. NASB
Jesus Christ did not
merely go to the Cross and pay a debt, but He became the substitute for all of
humanity, and gave Himself over, entirely to death, in mans place.
John 10:17-18
17 "For this
reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life
that I may take it again.
18 "No one has
taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own
initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up
again. This commandment I received from My Father." NASB
He gave Himself as a
ransom.Death owned man, and demanded
man. However, Christ went to death in
mans place, completely and totally.That
is something, the magnitude of which, we will never comprehend nor understand.
In so doing, Christ
paid an infinite price that was sufficient to cover all of the sins of humanity. Thus the doctrine of
atonement, which is the covering over of all sins. Wiping the slate clean so
to speak, for mankind.
However, even though the
price paid was sufficient to cover all of humanity, there is still the
requirement of each individual to believe in Christ, which is in effect each persons acceptance of Christs work on the Cross in his behalf.
However, as many will receive
this opportunity (namely the entire human race, few will actually believe, Matt
22:14, 1 Tim 4:10; 1 John 4:14.
All of this history was
accomplished at the proper time in history.
God does not do things haphazardly, but God has a well laid out plan for
human history.
Nothing occurs in
history by accident.Everything is
foreordained, or foreknown by God.God
does not force anyone to make their decisions or do whatever it is that they will
do in history.God
just knows before hand, what you are going to do, or are not going to do.
You create the pattern
of your own life, by yourself.
God has a plan for your
life.Your plan is unique to your
life. But there are two potential plans
from your perspective. One in which you
will follow Gods desired plan for you, and one in which you will not.
Guess which is the better
of the two?
