1 Peter

Introduction

 

 

The first book of Peter, was written while Peter was living in Babylon. It is a book of suffering, and was addressed to Hebrew Christians scattered throughout the region.

 

Probably written in the mid sixties A.D., 1 Peter was written as an encouragement to believers to hold on to their faith and doctrine, especially during their time of suffering and adversity.

II. Suffering and the certainty of future inheritance (1:3-12)

 

III. Suffering and personal life (1:13-2:10)

 

IV. Suffering and social and domestic life (2:11-3:12)

VI. Right conduct in the light of the end (4:7-19)

 

VII. Suffering and right relationship between elders and the congregation (5:1-11)

 

VIII. Conclusion (5:12-14)
