You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
New Year - 2006
Well another year has passed. We covered many passages in the last year - 1, 2, 3 John, Obadiah, Jonah, several of the Proverbs, several of the Psalms, several chapters in Isaiah, Haggai, Jude, several chapters in Ezekiel, and now we are in Hebrews.
Though we have only two to four pages of study each day, over the course of the year we have accumulated over one thousand pages of Bible study, hitting on lots of topics.
If you are true to the Word, then you know to read the studies and read deeper into their meaning and purpose. To read and put away, gains you little in the spiritual life, but to read and ponder and then try to see how any given study might apply to your life is the beginning of spiritual growth.
Looking at the world around us we can see a predominantly disinterested world. Two-thirds of the world are non-Christian. And of the remaining one-third, most of those are indifferent to their spiritual life.
Even in our own country we have what seems to be an ever growing anti-truth attitude. There are those who would place our citizens and soldiers in harms way, by complaining of our efforts to fight terrorists and by revealing our secret activities in that effort, just to gain power or notoriety that they do not deserve. There are those who are becoming so selfish and self righteous that they would prevent foreigners from entering into our country in search of a new life and home. There are those organizations who would take away the rights of the majority, just because a very few people might be insulted. There are those who would define life for emotional reasons irrespective of the repercussions to others.
All that we have is by the grace of God. None of us can earn anything in life. And certainly from the Bible's perspective, none of us deserve anything in life.
Our country is great because of one reason only, and that is because we have a Christian heritage. It is by Gods blessing that we have the greatest economy in human history. With our thirteen trillion dollar economy in this past year alone, we produce over thirty-five percent of the worlds production with only four percent of the worlds population. We fight the worlds battles with an all volunteer military. No one is forced to enlist and our military is stronger than ever.
And yet the majority of what has become a very arrogant news media, tries in its endless effort to control the thinking of the world in its one world order pursuit for approbation and power. Truth is not their goal, but power and controlling the direction of human history is.
Sixty years ago in another generation, over nine thousand men fell in a matter of hours in the invasion at Normandy. They are buried overseas and never came home. Our nation did not rise up and quit because of the complaining of politicians and reporters. Yet today a small number of our men and women have died in the fight against an even more sinister and evil enemy and many people can't seem figure out the difference between right and wrong.
Deceitful folks use this indecision and uncertainty in their own power grabbing agenda. They care nothing for the war effort, or of the people that they want to be supported by. They only use the conflict to their own advantage, wanting instead to be in power at any price.
Many storms and disasters have come and gone. Many debates of attitude have come and gone. Many opinions as to just what is enlightenment and truth fill the airwaves constantly.
From all of these things, there is but one defense and that is Bible doctrine in the soul. There is only one way to get it and that is by pursuing a daily study program while being resident in fellowship with God.
None of us are going to change the course of history. Jesus Christ controls history. And as those who are disinterested in God and truth, will try to steer history to some imagined glory of their own invention, they will ultimately fail. Jesus Christ controls history.
In the coming year many more storms and disasters will come and many will suffer as a result. In the coming year, the airwaves will be filled with opinions. Most of which will distort truth in various slanted ways.
Don't be caught up in the worlds drive to disaster. Keep in the word and stay outside of the turmoil that is certain to come.
Subscribe to the worlds views and your future will bring misery upon you. Stay in doctrine and your destiny will be happiness and prosperity.
