Zeph. 3:8

8 Therefore wait [chakah] ye upon me, saith [na'um] the LORD [Yahovah] , until the day [yowm] that I rise up [quwm] to the prey [ad] : for my determination [mishpat] is to gather [acaph] the nations [gowy] , that I may assemble [qabats] the kingdoms [mamlakah] , to pour [shaphak] upon them mine indignation [za`am] , even all my fierce [charown] anger [aph] : for all the earth [erets] shall be devoured [akal] with the fire [esh] of my jealousy [qin'ah] . 8 'Therefore, wait for Me,' declares the LORD, 'For the day when I rise up to the prey. Indeed, My decision is to gather nations, To assemble kingdoms, To pour out on them My indignation, All My burning anger; For all the earth will be devoured By the fire of My zeal. NASB

Wait is the command to all believers. Wait, means to weld ones self to something (ones spiritual life), to adhere to a belief, to tarry (to endure through ones life), to be prepared (to study and learn and grow), to remain where you are for a long time until the Lord returns (calls you home), as a very loyal servant would be expected to do regardless of how long it takes for the master to return.

For sooner or later, the lateness of the day, the heat of the day, will come. It always does. We can count on it. And that is the Day of the Lord, the day of His return, or the day He calls you home.

His 'decision' is a verdict, the judgment based on all the evidence, based on all of the facts which history has presented showing without any doubt whatsoever, that the nations (collections of peoples) throughout all of history, have in fact pursued their own arrogant based paths of life. These (paths) with little regard for God and what the truth of life is all about.

That truth being the war between God and Satan, the various dispensations into which history has been divided, the various empires of history which Satan has tried to create and of which God has guided in a safer direction (we'll get into that study in Rev. 17), the destiny of mankind (heaven of hell). This is the truth of life, not some of these ideas that mankind is evolving into some kind of higher species and will travel to the stars. Never going to happen.

Mans destiny is to go somewhere after his life on earth is over - after physical death. Better to plan for that future than to ignore it altogether.

The sun rises and the sun sets. People are born and people die. Nobody from several generations ago, remains alive now, here on earth. So what more proof does anyone need than to think that there just might be something to this Bible stuff.

God again states that in the heat of the day - in some certain future date in a persons life, and likewise in human history, judgment will come. A day of Gods indignation (fury of overwhelmingly violent action). That is a certainty.

He will assemble the nations (evil collections of mankind), collections for whatever common purpose, and God will strike them with a fatal blow. Against this the human race has no defense.

At some point in time of the individuals life, God also strikes. After numerous warnings. And the individual is on notice as well. Get your life together and grow up spiritually, or forever suffer the consequences of your own wrong decisions. Those wrong decisions are of course to ignore God, the Bible, and all the implications they have for you.

Fools flip through the Bible and drift away because it isn't interesting enough. Where are the stories of Gideon, of David, of Solomon and his wives. But here we have a story in Zephaniah which has probably enlightened everyone more than they could have ever imagined. Do you remember the subject of Zephaniah? Delusion! Do you remember the destiny of the territory we have formerly known as the Soviet Union? The biggest wild life park ever! Did you know that before this study?

Now we have the repeat of the final warning. God in His zeal (the application of His policy of justice) will destroy thoroughly all evil. Whether it is from your life as an individual because you just never thought that this spiritual life stuff was important, or whether it is the destruction of a nation, or of the entire world (the evil world), makes no difference.

There is the promise again stated. Wait, does not mean sit on the porch and do nothing with your life. Wait means, wait by means of attaching ones self to Gods Word, and wait for the plan of God to unfold in due course (as it certainly will) and you will have a wonderful life, and an even greater eternity. Your wait means that you are expected to comply with Gods commands for your life, during this life. God is able to deal with individuals. God is able to deal with entire nations. God is able to deal with the entire world, with ease. Only fools disregard God, His word, and His promises of certain events of evaluation and blessing or judgment in our future.

We are surrounded with numerous examples of the various kinds of attitudes that people can have. In the Middle East we see evil folks kidnapping civilians and cutting off their heads, and for a cause which isn't really a cause at all They are just common thugs who are caught up in their own blinding arrogance.

In the Tribulation, which we have been studying via Rev. 15, we are soon going to be in the study of the Bowl judgments and there we will see that entire world acting as these terrorists act. Arrogance will be at such a great saturation point that evil and suffering will run rampant.

Today we have may opportunities to avoid evil and live in prosperity by sticking to our daily study of Gods Word. In those future days this same opportunity will be available. Most folks will ignore it, but many will take advantage of it even in the midst of worldwide tyranny. If folks then, can advance to spiritual maturity with all the obstacles they will encounter, then what excuse will folks of todays generation have, with our relatively peaceful environment?

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
