Zeph. 2:8-9
Lesson # Zeph. 2:8-9
Study Material - Zeph. 2:8-9
You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Zeph. 2:8-9 8 I have heard [shama] the reproach [cherpah] of Moab [Mow'ab] , and the revilings [gidduwph] of the children [ben] of Ammon [Ammown] , whereby they have reproached [charaph.] my people [am] , and magnified [gadal] themselves against their border [gabuwl] . 9 Therefore as I live [chay] , saith [na'um] the LORD [Yahovah] of hosts [tsaba] , the God [elohiym] of Israel [Yisra'el] , Surely Moab [Mow'ab] shall be as Sodom [Cadom] , and the children [ben] of Ammon [Ammown] as Gomorrah [Amorah] , even the breeding [mimshaq] of nettles [charuwl] , and saltpits [mikreh] [melach] , and a perpetual [ad] [owlam] desolation [shamamah] : the residue [sha'eriyth] of my people [am] shall spoil [bazaz] them, and the remnant [yether] of my people [gowy] shall possess [nachal] them. KJV-Interlinear 8 'I have heard the taunting of Moab And the revilings of the sons of Ammon, With which they have taunted My people And become arrogant against their territory. 9 'Therefore, as I live,' declares the LORD of hosts, The God of Israel, 'Surely Moab will be like Sodom, And the sons of Ammon like Gomorrah A place possessed by nettles and salt pits, And a perpetual desolation. The remnant of My people will plunder them, And the remainder of My nation will inherit them.' NASB
Moving from the sea coast on the west to the lands east of Judah, God tells of the curse against those who would be distant relatives of Israel.
Lot was a relative of Abraham. He moved away from the land of Canaan, and into the evil of Sodom. Sodom was eventually destroyed such that no one has ever throughout all of history, found even the smallest trace of its existence.
Lot had two daughters. Both, through deceit, had sons by their father, Lot. Their sons were Moab and Ammon. These are the two nations to the east which gave nothing but trouble to Israel throughout the many centuries of its existence.
Distant relatives, but offspring of incest, these represent those who would make themselves a part of Gods family, but resent it when they are excluded totally.
They are the world of sin, which resents those chosen of God, and go all out to destroy them. Rejected by God, for their rejection of God, Moab and Ammon, turn not to repentance toward God, but to reproach, to resentment, to violence against any and all who God looks on with favor.
The region will be turned to dust, where even weeds will not grow, and the remnant of believers who survive the Tribulation, will move in and take for their own possession, all that evil once had. Later generations of the Millennium will inherit those same lands and evil will never win back anything.
Eventually all those people of God, will have everything they ever wanted and more, as God will simply give generously to them, all that is.
Evil, those who are negative, those who are indifferent, those who are antagonistic, those who play games with God, will lose everything they hustle and work so hard for, from the energy of their own effort (rejecting God), justifying in their own minds that their effort should be rewarded because they did it themselves. But they never see the lie of that concept (they did it themselves), and thus they will lose out on everything forever.
Delusion is a powerful force. It is a force that drives away truth, and embraces arrogance, the various forms of lust, all manner of sins and human viewpoint, and ultimately destroys the individual.
There is only one greater force with which to compete against evil, and that is Gods Word. His word on the written page is of no use. It has to be transferred into the soul of the person who has believed in Christ, by means of a daily study program (a regular and consistent daily study program), and then applied to ones life in order for its spiritual value to become realized and beneficial in the life of the believer.
Living in the same neighborhood of God, or trying to be a near relative are not the same, nor do they come with the same rights and privileges of being an immediate family member (an adult first born child, an heir) of Gods family. Being in Gods family is the only place of blessing and happiness. Anything else is of no benefit at all.
In life the choices for ones future are clear. Pursue God, His Word, and the spiritual life He offers, and then benefit from that relationship. Or, to accept less than God offers by pursuing what the world has to offer, and you'll definitely receive less. Less in the form of blessings and happiness.
Less blessings automatically mean more miseries. And eventually less will evolve into total annihilation for those who reject God completely. No one ever found Sodom. Why would one want to identify with something that has been obliterated from history - never to be found - ever?
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
