Zeph. 1:17
Lesson # Zeph. 1:17
Study Material - Zeph. 1:17
You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Zeph. 1:17 17 And I will bring distress [tsarar] upon men [adam] , that they shall walk [halak] like blind men [ivver] , because they have sinned [chata] against the LORD [Yahovah] : and their blood [dam] shall be poured out [shaphak] as dust [aphar] , and their flesh [lachuwm] as the dung [gelel] . KJV-Interlinear 17 And I will bring distress on men, So that they will walk like the blind, Because they have sinned against the LORD; And their blood will be poured out like dust, And their flesh like dung. NASB
We have every opportunity to learn the Word of God during our life here on earth. If our life is cut short here on earth such that we would not have that opportunity, then God would certainly make allowances for that. Children always die around the world. Infant babies die for one reason or another. God is fair. And we should have faith that He will do whatever is best for those who die young.
As for each one of us, then we have an even greater opportunity to live our lives and qualify for greater things in life - spiritually. If we ignore God, then we hurt only ourselves. We all have a soul. That is the vessel which houses our human life. Not the physical body. That houses only biological life and at death that will return to the dust from whence it came. But your soul is the real you.
Your soul needs nourishment. Proper nourishment comes from Gods Word. With proper nourishment (a daily study, fellowship, etc.) Then your soul remains healthy and it breathes (functions) as it should. However, when a person ignores God, rejects His Word, then the soul callouses over and begins to slowly lose its normal function. The Bible calls this 'hardness of heart'. It is more thoroughly explained in Ephesians and described in Exodus in Pharaoh's life.
Eph. 4:18
18 being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart; NASB
Rejection of scripture means that your soul will lack the proper information and spiritual content it needs to be healthy. The soul is a perpetual sponge for information however. It performs the intake of information constantly. If Gods Word or the principles of life which are influenced by Gods Word, are rejected, then the soul will absorb all the worldly information it is exposed to. Your soul is perpetually drawing in anything and everything.
Bible doctrine, fellowship, and application of same, or in other words the constant circulation of the circle of wisdom (Gods Wisdom) within the soul are necessary to maintain a healthy soul. When this is short circuited by rejection, indifference and such, then the health of the soul begins to deteriorate. The deterioration results in a callousness which begins to cover over the soul. If a person is defiant throughout their entire life, then the callousness will eventually cover the entire soul - causing a blackout of the soul.
A blackout means no light (truth) will ever come through. This means that life has come to its end for the negative person. The toughest, the nicest, the tallest, the shortest, the smartest, the dumbest, the richest, the poorest person alive, all are subject to this failure of soul, if they reject God and Gods Word.
And here Zephaniah describes their life when God has called an end to them. They are blind. That leads to distress (when they become aware of their blindness). The negative person is one who is losing their sight slowly over time and is not aware of their loss of sight. All they see, they have come to believe as their truth, but God allows people who are negative to continue to live in their own self invented delusion.
Without truth, they walk (function) in life as a blind person would function. They however have no means of knowing where they are or where they are going in life.
And this is all caused by their own defiance toward God - their sin against God - of not being interested in truth. Therefore they pursue lies throughout their lives.
What is their life worth? Dust and dung.
Not exactly the greatest of compliments for a life of hustle and bustle on this earth.
Num. 5:6-7
6 'Speak to the sons of Israel, 'When a man or woman commits any of the sins of mankind, acting unfaithfully against the LORD, and that person is guilty, 7 then he shall confess his sins which he has committed, and he shall make restitution in full for his wrong, and add to it one-fifth of it, and give it to him whom he has wronged. NASB
Jer. 9:22
22 Speak, 'Thus declares the LORD, 'The corpses of men will fall like dung on the open field, NASB
Job 20:5-7
5 That the triumphing of the wicked is short, And the joy of the godless momentary? 6 'Though his loftiness reaches the heavens, And his head touches the clouds, 7 He perishes forever like his refuse; Those who have seen him will say, 'Where is he?' NASB
Deut. 28:29
29 and you shall grope at noon, as the blind man gropes in darkness, and you shall not prosper in your ways; but you shall only be oppressed and robbed continually, with none to save you. NASB
Psa. 2:2
2 The kings of the earth take their stand, And the rulers take counsel together Against the LORD and against His Anointed: NASB
1 Sam. 2:25
25 If one man sins against another, God will mediate for him; but if a man sins against the LORD, who can intercede for him?' NASB
1 Chron. 10:13
13 So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against the LORD, because of the word of the LORD which he did not keep; NASB
So, if we are born alive and breathing on this earth, then we have to face the truth of life. We either pursue Gods word for our life or we don't.
We can become the apple of Gods eye, with great value, great blessing, great reward, or we can have the legacy of dust and dung follow our life to its end.
We can either become silent hero's of history, or we can be merely historical filler - the fluff and puff which does nothing really for humanity.
One would think that this would not be a difficult choice for ones life!
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
