Zech. 13:7
7 Awake [`uwr], O sword [chereb], against my shepherd [ra`ah],
and against the man [geber] that is my fellow [`amiyth], saith [na'um] the LORD [Yahovah] of hosts [tsaba']: smite [nakah] the shepherd [ra`ah], and
the sheep [tso'n] shall be scattered [puwts]: and I will turn [shuwb]
mine hand [yad] upon the little ones [tsa`ar]. KJV-Interlinear
7 Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, And against the man,
My Associate, Declares the LORD of hosts. Strike the Shepherd that the sheep
may be scattered; And I will turn My hand against the little ones. NASB
Now
the context changes dramatically. We
have just seen what humanity tries to do in the preceding verses. Namely, to
influence society by means of worldly opinions, philosophies and so forth, all
of which are from man s own imagination and invention.
And,
just to make it very clear. Man did not
even invent these idol patterns of thought.
Satan set out that pattern. Man
has just taken up what Satan started, and man has put his own embellishment on
false philosophies.
The
false prophets of the previous verse seek to influence and lead humanity with
their false doctrines. And, as we have
already seen, when times get tough, the tough prophets vanish into thin
air. They are nowhere to be found.
Now
we have Christ, the true prophet. And,
not only is He the true prophet, but nothing in history occurs, unless He
allows it to occur.
Thus
the command to the sword. The sword is
an instrument of judgment. It is also
any instrument of execution, of a plan.
God has the only wise plan. God
has the only successful plan. God is the
only one who can issue commands.
Jesus
Christ controls history. Jesus Christ in
His deity commands the sword of judgment as well as the sword of salvation. The sword is commanded against the Shepherd,
who is the Messiah, who is Himself, Jesus Christ.
The
Shepherd is a very close friend with the speaker of this verse. He is in effect declaring that the Shepherd,
and the Messiah, and the Lord, are all one and the same person. The Messiah is man. The Messiah is God. The Messiah is the unique person of the
universe both God and man.
Thus,
the plan of God was formulated by God, and it is executed by God, and no
other. No one can change the plan. No one can alter the plan. No liberal minded politician, or news media
type, no tyrant, no Hollywood star, no gang member on the street, no do-gooder
in society, none of these can change that which God has ordained in the Divine
Decrees in eternity past.
Though
try as they may, all of the false prophets, which include all people who
attempt to superimpose their views onto the world. Views, which are false, that is. None will ever succeed.
The
World was hijacked by Satan way back in the Garden. Satan has tried to destroy humanity, as well
as cause at least one failure in Gods character or plan. Satan has failed completely. He will never succeed.
Humanity
follows this pattern by rejecting truth and adopting false opinions and
interpretations of life.
The
false prophets, those who would be the leaders of the world, suffer major injuries,
of which they blame others for causing.
Those injuries were really, self-inflicted by the decisions of people in
pursuing the lies, the idols and false prophecies, of the world.
In
contrast, Christ went to the Cross and suffered injuries that really were
caused by others. Those same others,
anyone who rejects truth, who desire to lead where they have no qualifications
to lead. And thus, they try to destroy
those who look to Christ the true leader, in an effort to eliminate the true
followers of truth.
The
results? The true followers of truth,
Christians, are scattered but not destroyed.
Believers have been scattered and have always existed throughout the
world. In several instances in history,
both Jews and Christians alike, have been scattered to the four corners of the
world. Even the Apostles, except John,
scattered when Christ was arrested.
The
true shepherd, the true leader will re-gather all, the little ones, who have
turned to Him.
He
will scatter permanently, all who reject Him.
Those who see themselves as bigger than the little ones.
The
destruction, which the false prophet s desire against others, will become their
own destiny. The leadership and
influence the false prophets desire over others, will never be attained,
however their excuses for failure, namely, We were but farmers, the lowest of
the low, doing our jobs, will in fact become their destiny.
They
are nothing in life, in Gods eyes, and they will become nothing in eternity. Their lusts for notoriety will fail, just as
they use failed opinions throughout their life.
God
will turn His hand against the little ones.
This can be viewed in two ways.
Both are a comfort for believers in Christ. In one sense, His hand turns, and surrounds, and
protects those who belong to Him and around those who are obedient to Him. In
the other sense, His hand strikes discipline in punishment against those who
are disobedient.
The
false prophets seek only for themselves.
They would use the masses for their own benefit, and they will betray
the masses when they are no longer needed.
They only take, and they have nothing to give.
Christ,
on the other hand, nurtures, teaches, and helps along all who will turn to
Him. And to those, He freely gives the
universe as an inheritance.
Luke
12:32
32
Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you
the kingdom. NASB
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
