Psa. 110:2-3

Lesson # Psa. 110:2-3
Study Material - Psa. 110:2-3

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Psa. 110:2-3

2 The LORD [Yahovah] shall send [shalach] the rod [matteh] of thy strength [oz] out of Zion [Tsiyown] : rule [radah] thou in the midst [qereb] of thine enemies [oyeb] .
3 Thy people [am] shall be willing [nadabah] in the day [yowm] of thy power [chayil] , in the beauties [hadar] of holiness [qodesh] from the womb [rechem] of the morning [mishchar] : thou hast the dew [tal] of thy youth [yalduwth] . KJV-Interlinear

Psa. 110:2-3

2 The LORD will stretch forth Thy strong scepter from Zion, saying, 'Rule in the midst of Thine enemies.' 3 Thy people will volunteer freely in the day of Thy power; In holy array, from the womb of the dawn, Thy youth are to Thee as the dew. NAS

Zion has been long understood as the city of Jerusalem. It first got its reference as Zion way back in Joshua's day as he attempted to take the Jebusite stronghold, which was on a ridge just south of the Temple location in the then, future Jerusalem of Solomon..

David, in his day, several centuries later, was able to take the fortification and then called it the 'City of David,' or Jerusalem.

Jerusalem existed from ancient times, and before it fell to the Jebusites or others, it was known as Salem, the city under the leadership of the king/priest, Melchizedek of Abraham's day. We can only assume that the city eventually fell during the time of the Israelites slavery in Egypt. At least I don't find anything in my historical notes regarding the city during the time of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. All we know is that it existed during Abraham's time, and then when the Israelites went into the land after the Exodus, under the leadership of Joshua, the Jebusites held it. It would not be until David's day that the 'City of Peace' would finally be freed and then referred to the City of David and later Jerusalem. They are one and the same city.

Zion is a word which means 'to set up,' 'to protect,' a 'ridge or mountain,' and thus a 'fortress established.'

God, in Zion, set up a representation of an impenetrable fortress in the sides of that steep ridge wall, in which any and all may find protection and security. It is the focal point of the city of Jerusalem, which is the city of peace, and we should know by now that 'peace' is a reference to Gods peace. On that seventh day, God rested. In the desert after the exodus, He stated that those 'stiff necked' people would never enter into His rest. That rest is of course spiritual maturity, and the relaxed mental attitude, or inner peace which comes with advanced spiritual growth. The Israelites were a very negative bunch.

This is all made possible by Bible doctrine which is resident in the soul, forming that foundation of spiritual wisdom upon which we build our spiritual growth. There is a spiritual Zion, and there is a physical Zion which is in Jerusalem. When Christ returns, it will be to Jerusalem (Zion). Out of which His rule (scepter) will extend throughout all of the earth.

Likewise from His first advent, the Word of God has been sent to all the four corners of the world. It is by His doctrines that this planet earth is preserved. And more specifically, His Word which resides in the souls of positive believers world wide. And, again, that rule exists even within the midst of Gods enemies - any and all who are negative, indifferent, or outright antagonistic towards the Bible and Christianity, and anything that is associated with God.

In short, Jesus Christ controls history. There is a divine plan for human history and nothing and no one can prevent it, nor change it in anyway. Those who are positive toward God embrace His authority, and those who are against God cannot help their inevitable decisions and actions, because they cannot foresee their own thoughts, decisions, and actions, let alone the thoughts, decisions, and actions of everyone else in the world and in history. That power is infinitely beyond mans ability. Only God can foresee the future. He saw it in eternity past in every detail.

Those who believe in Christ are as numerous as the dew drops of the morning - innumerable. From their youth, even from the womb that carried them, all who will believe in Christ have been known by God since eternity past. Why from the womb? Because God knows all our thoughts even before we begin having them. He controls history and He knows the thoughts of man. Jesus Christ imputes human life into every human body when it is born. Man may promote biological activity from the back seat of the chevy, but man does not create human life. Only God can do that. 'Neshemah' is the Hebrew term used for this 'spark of life' which is exhaled from God and inhaled by man at the point of birth.

This number of believers is numerous. He will not have any difficulty in finding an army (holy array) of believers at any point in history, since He places each one of us into history at His pleasure. Blessings come into this world through believers, and so God can preserve planet earth by this simple planning tool. Again, none of our individual thoughts or decisions are compromised. God does not impose any decisions on us. We do all of them ourselves. He just knows everything we will think and do, long before we will. And for each of our individual benefits, God does all that is best for us, because alone, we cannot.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
