To commit yourself to the Lord is more than an emotional feeling, it is a genuine conscious compliance with Gods mandates and expectations, from you. And you cannot know those expectations or even the mandates unless you learn them. Too many try to substitute their own emotional rational, for Gods rules and they fail miserably in their spiritual life, never figuring it out until it is too late.
Too many try to ignore Gods rules and thus believe they can get by without repercussions.
Too many try to make up their own rules, calling it science or philosophy or their own freedom to choose and decide for themselves.
But that is why God gave us instruction and doctrine, so that we can learn and know and understand the truths of life, and then comply with His will, and thus commit ourselves to His pattern of life.
To commit, means to roll a heavy burden off of ourselves and onto God. And when we say God, we of course mean Christ. He is the carrier of burdens and the doer of deeds in our behalf.
Our ability to discover truth is far too great. That is why we need a lens to look through in order to see truth, and Bible doctrine is that lens, to help us see the realities of life, the real facts, and avoid the theories and invented philosophies.
The term way, means the act of treading, or traveling or going. It refers to our path in life, our manner in which we live, to our whole course of life, in life, including all of our conduct, plans and intentions.
Trust, means to have confidence, to be bold, to be secure. Therefore you commit your entire existence and priority to learning and knowing Gods will. Which is learned, by learning doctrine. Your boldness comes from the doctrine in your soul, which you learn, which builds up understanding, orientation to life, and therefore confidence, and finally faith, the real spiritual muscle of your essence.
But of course you have to listen or receive instruction in order to learn. To ignore a daily study, which is your daily meal of food for the soul, is to learn nothing. But to pursue it, is to learn and know and to succeed without exception.
