12 To the end that my glory [kabowd] may sing [zamar] praise to thee, and not be silent [damam]. O LORD [Yahovah] my God ['elohiym], I will give thanks [yadah] unto thee for ever [`owlam].  KJV-Interlinear

12 That my soul may sing praise to Thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to Thee forever.  NASB

The word for glory, ‘kabowd,’ means weight, splendor, copiousness, honor, and applies to the actual weight or substance of ones character and inner essence, not to something imagined or pretended or phonied up. The real you being what you think, then the content of your soul expresses the genuineness of your glory. The content of your soul is who you really are.

Bible doctrine is real content. Worldly viewpoint is worthless temporary fluff or nothingness. Which do you possess?

Sing and silent, are two contrasting terms. Sing, ‘zamar,’ refers to striking of the strings of a musical instrument, to play upon it, to write the music as you go along, to originate, to blend with a voice.

Silent, ‘damam,’ refers to dumb as in not able to speak, to be astonished, to stop, to perish, to be cut down, to cease.

And the source of this contrast comes from the soul, and is determined by the content of your soul.

Doctrine produces real music in depth. The world produces nothing of substance or of value.

And of course as the whole bible promotes the content of your soul with doctrine in order for you to have a meaningful and purposeful and enjoyable life, then learning doctrine is of paramount importance.

Music that is beyond the expression of words, is a concept that describes the epitome, the essence, the embodiment of happiness. And, that is the objective of spiritual growth to maturity, bringing your life to its fullest potential, to its fullest meaning, to its fullest purpose, to its fullest completion.

God is the author of doctrine and to Him is due the appreciation of your total self, which if you do things right, then you are a product of the doctrine that you study and learn and are constructed by, and all of it comes from and through Christ.
