You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Psalm 25:3

3 Yea, let
none that wait [qavah] on thee be ashamed: [buwsh]
let them be ashamed [buwsh] which transgress [bagad] without cause. [reyqam] KJV-Interlinear
3 Indeed,
none of those who wait for Thee will be ashamed; Those who deal treacherously
without cause will be ashamed. NASB
To wait, 'qavah,' means to bind together, to collect, to look as in watching for something, to be patient, to tarry, to wait.
To wait on the Lord, does not imply doing nothing. It means precisely to bind oneself to Gods plan and purpose and to allow Gods plan to run its course, rather than trying to run things based on ones own effort.
Those who try to plan out their lives to the exclusion of God, are not waiting on God.
Those who comply with Gods will, being obedient in their pursuit of their spiritual life in accordance with Gods spiritual growth process, are in fact waiting on God.
In other words, let God run history and life, and do not try to run it yourself.
This means not only proceeding with your daily studies, but also complying with the various responsibilities and obligations that are expected of you, within your daily life.
Doing nothing is not a spiritual characteristic. It is a lazy and irresponsible characteristic.
Waiting on God means to do everything that God expects of you. You study daily for your spiritual completion. You clean yourself for your personal hygiene. You work to earn money and pay your bills. You take care of your family. You do that which you need to do in life in order to be a responsible person in life. This is waiting on the Lord.
To be ashamed, 'buwsh,' means to pale, to be disappointed, to fail, to bring shame, dishonor, disgrace.
When one lives their life in accordance with Gods will, just as we spelled out above, then there is no shame, regardless of your life's circumstances.
On the other hand, to transgress, 'bagad,' means to not do Gods will, to cover as in cover up ones true appearance, to hide, to offend, to be unfaithful.
And when you do not confess on a regular basis, when you do not pursue a daily study, when you tend to ignore or disregard Gods plan and will for yourself, for humanity, for history, for anything or everything, then you are a transgressor. Obviously committing sins, crimes, and such are transgressions. But more serious transgressions are committed by the vast majority of people who are simply indifferent toward God, Christ, doctrine, and such.
Marriage is the bringing together two that belong together, and make the two into one complete and whole result.
You as a person are incomplete. Doctrine is the other marital partner that makes you complete.
Without doctrine, you will never be complete. Without a daily study you will never have doctrine.
This leaves you in disgrace, incomplete, dishonored, and an embarrassment to yourself.
This is the verse that states the outcome of your behavior when you stand before the Lord at the Judgment Seat of Christ.
For those who advance in their spiritual life as they are supposed to, there is completion and great honor.
For those who do not, there is great embarrassment.
Which will you be?
