Psalm 18:15

15 Then the channels ['aphiyq] of waters [mayim] were seen, [ra'ah] and the foundations [mowcadah] of the world [tebel] were discovered [galah] at thy rebuke, [ga`arah] O LORD, [Yahovah] at the blast [nashamah] of the breath [ruwach] of thy nostrils. ['aph] KJV-Interlinear

15 Then the channels of water appeared, And the foundations of the world were laid bare At Thy rebuke, O Lord, At the blast of the breath of Thy nostrils. NASB

Channels, 'aphiyq,' refers to pipes or a tube and then a channel or the valley of a stream, the valley or bed that remains below and behind.

Waters, 'mayim,' generally refers to seas or ocean, but can refer to any kind of water feature such as a lake or river.

The channels of waters, relays the symbolism of a torrent of water rushing along or being driven in heaps or massive waves, leaving behind and exposed, nothing but the bare bottom of the river or stream or ocean.

Foundation, 'mowcadah,' refers to the ultimate core of absolute inner part of something. And here it is a reference to the world, or the heart and soul of the world, being of course the core of the souls of men, evil men.

And so the torrent of Gods wrath is being described using the symbolism of an extreme storm, that is so violent that it washes away all that is on the surface, and revealing the utterly rotten core of evil that exists within.

This is not simply the washing or pouring away of the waters on the surface, but an extremely violent action of ripping away the entire surface and what lies underneath, to reveal the core of the souls of evil.

And of course this action exists throughout the entire world, or a worldwide event, 'of the world.'

This again has a two sided application, both of which are legitimate. First it applies to any individual whenever they happen to live in history. God ultimately reveals the inner content of their soul and thus will use that in their resulting evaluation at the judgment at the appropriate resurrection.

Also, God will unleash in the last days of history, the most horrendous judgment that the world has ever seen, and that judgment will reveal the justification for that judgment, as the world, on the whole, has turned so corrupt.

Rebuke, emphasizes that it is God who is doing the judging, not nature, not man, not anything else. And the blast of the nostrils we explained in verse eight, wherein the heavy breathing through the nostrils describes the certainty and driven purpose of the one attacking.

This judgment is not by accident or spontaneous, but is a well thought out design and plan for judging that which has had all of the opportunities to change, but does not.

And so too, you have the opportunity to change your life for the better, by getting with a daily study of the scriptures, and sticking with that daily study, or you too can disregard that mandate of God and pursue a life of your own beliefs and invention, and end up with your soul being laid bare for all to see the emptiness that exists within.
