Psalm 7:17

http://www.dailybiblestudy.org

17 I will praise [yadah] the LORD [Yahovah] according to his righteousness: [tsedeq] and will sing praise [zamar] to the name [shem] of the LORD [Yahovah] most high. ['elyown] KJV-Interlinear

17 I will give thanks to the Lord according to His righteousness, And will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High. NASB

Righteousness is the sinless perfection of God, of which only God possesses. And as to those who are called the righteous, it is His righteousness that is imputed into the believer that, in part, sets them apart from all who reject God.

Righteousness is the perfect decency and honesty and integrity and morality and virtue and so forth, all absent of tarnish or taint or filth of sin and evil.

Righteousness is the attribute (one of several) that sets God apart from all living beings.

Gods righteousness is the one attribute that man cannot possess, because man is incapable of maintaining it in a perfect status.

With the sin nature, man (and angel) will find a way to compromise the standards of righteousness, and allow less than perfection (sin) to become a part of its essence. And that diminishes that which is perfect into that which is imperfect. Once imperfections enter into a thing, then it declines until it is thoroughly destroyed.

When man invents religion (Christianity is not a religion), then man tries to bring into the spiritual realm that which he lusts after. And the lusts of the heart are all tainted and bent on destruction sooner or later.

Only a perfect standard, immovable and immutable, can be applied legitimately and fairly against the behaviors of creatures. God is that one and only perfect being that possesses righteousness, and only God can apply justice fairly as called for by His righteousness.

And that is the focus of this psalm.

God judges fairly and correctly those who comply with His truth, versus those who disregard the principles of His truth.

And because of this, then God is called by His personal name, Jehovah, namely the second person of the Trinity, and praise is declared to Him, who is perfect and immutable and eternal.

Most high, means the highest possible, and above Him there is none higher.

The Savior saves, and to Him belongs judgment, and beyond His judgment there is no further appeal. Jesus Christ is the last stop.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
