6 Arise, [quwm] O LORD, [Yahovah] in thine anger, ['aph] lift
up [nasa'] thyself because of the rage [`ebrah] of mine enemies: [tsarar]
and awake [`uwr] for me to the judgment [mishpat] that thou hast commanded. [tsavah] KJV-Interlinear
6 Arise, O
Lord, in Thine anger; Lift up Thyself against the rage of my adversaries, And
arouse Thyself for me; Thou hast appointed judgment. NASB
Arise in anger, lift up thyself, are expressions in language of accommodation. They describe the policy of God, in terms of human emotions and actions.
To lift up oneself, is to bring something to ones attention, something for immediate or important attention.
The term for anger means the use of the nostrils in heavy breathing. This means to apply direct intense focus and attention on a matter before you. And even though the term applies to human emotion, Gods focus is direct, controlled, poised and righteous, and without the instabilities of emotion.
Gods response is based on truth and justice, when applied to sin and evil.
Because of the rage of enemies, brings a contrast to Gods policy. While God is righteous and just, fair and thorough, the enemies of God are unrighteous, unjust, unfair and arbitrary, and they are selfish, having no consideration for their victims, but thinking only of themselves.
Evil people fight for that which does not belong to them.
God created the heavens and the earth for believers, for His own family, for an inheritance to those who would be His heirs.
People who reject God, are not members of His family and therefore have no rights to anything that belongs to God.
Whatever they desire, separate and apart from God, they must support themselves. And since humanity and even Satan and his demon followers, are incapable of supporting anything, then that means, what they will eventually inherit, the Lake of Fire, which will become their domain, uncontrollable, isolated, and full of terror beyond imagination.
Awake for me, brings still further attention, to a matter that has long been postponed. History is the postponement of judgment. God allows history to continue so that every generation of people will have their opportunity to believe and grow up in Christ.
Stop your rest, stop your postponement.
One day, the numbers of people who are positive toward Christ, will cease, and on that day, history will make a major change in direction. That day we call the last days, or the Tribulation, the final seven years of history.
For the judgment You have commanded, is Gods decree that there will be a judgment. History will not continue indefinitely. Humanity will not travel to the stars, nor rule them, nor will humanity arise to some higher level of righteous existence.
Mans weak link is sin and the death associated with it. Man cannot solve or cure those weaknesses.
All of the efforts of man are designed by man to be driven toward mans own judgment. The sin nature has no other option when driving away from God, but to head toward its own destruction.
God is control and order. Sin is absent control and absent order.
