Psalms 4:2

http://www.dailybiblestudy.org

2 O ye sons [ben] of men, ['iysh] how long [`ad] will ye turn my glory [kabowd] into shame [kalimmah]? how long will ye love ['ahab] vanity, [riyq] and seek [baqash] after leasing [kazab]? Selah. [celah] KJV-Interlinear

2 O sons of men, how long will my honor become a reproach? How long will you love what is worthless and aim at deception? Selah. NASB

The first psalm taught us that God has a plan. His plan calls for happiness's (plural) for each of our lives. Happiness’s requires a completeness of ones soul, of ones self. The completeness of ones self is accomplished by means of doctrine, by means of learning doctrine, by means of understanding doctrine and growing up and making truth the central foundation of your life.

Bible doctrine is the key to your life.

Psalm two taught us that man has a plan and that God has a plan. Mans plans (they are numerous) will all fail. Gods plan will succeed. Gods plan began in eternity past when one member of the trinity was assigned the title, Son of God. The plan centers around that person, the Son, who was to accomplish an eternal destiny for all who believe in Him. Rejection or indifference toward Gods plan is arrogance.

The soul is eternal, therefore the reasonable person will plan for the long term of his life (eternity), and not just the short term (this present life).

The third psalm taught us that the world is an enemy. The world does not care for your best interest. The world inundates each person with enticements and unfairness’s, to distract you from God and Gods plan. It is easy to get caught up in the activities of ones life and forget or ignore God, but then the world surrounds you with an almost infinite variety of enemies, most of which you would never recognize as enemies, friendly such as they are. Your own attitude can be your worst enemy.

The fourth psalm teaches us to stand in awe of God, doctrine, and the spiritual life that He alone offers. Conform to His teaching and plan, and your life will be beyond better, and beyond anything that the world can offer.

Too often if a person cannot see or touch or smell something then they cannot believe in it. They want to be impressed, or convinced, or entertained. Faith is beyond the senses, but faith is not intended to be blind nor undetectable. Bible doctrine provides us with the tools and information to adapt our senses to faith and through an unexplainable thing, understand Gods plan and life.

If you don't conform to prayer, then you cannot understand God.

And for those who do not conform to Gods will, then the question here is, ‘How long will you defy God, His plan, His doctrine, and so forth?’

In life you have only two choices, God or everything else.

Most people choose the world, their career, their social activities, their retirement, their education, their hobbies, their goals of success or wealth or happiness as the world defines them. And all of these things are emptiness, temporary, destined for loss. When you die, they will all vanish from your life.

Few people look to God. Few people apply themselves to a daily study of the word of God. Doctrine is the food of the spirit. Food is what you eat daily for nourishment. Spiritual food nourishes the soul.

When you do not eat properly, then you starve, become ill, and eventually die a wretch.

Although your temporal life may be or seem fulfilled, your soul is the real you and your destiny is in the next life, not now.

Orient only to the temporal life now and you will lose for all of eternity.

Orient to the spiritual side of life, which is the larger side of your total existence, and you will succeed far beyond your wildest dreams.

So, how long will you hold out and ignore or reject your spiritual life as God (not you) has defined it?

Selah is a pause, a rest, but the music plays on. You can pursue your life as you see fit, but Gods plan rolls right on. You can travel along with it or against it. How long will it take you to decide?
