You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Proverbs 14:22
22 Do they not err [ta`ah] that devise [charash] evil [ra]? but mercy [checed] and truth [emeth] shall be to them that devise [charash] good [towb]. KJV-Interlinear 22 Will they not go astray who devise evil? But kindness and truth will be to those who devise good. NASB
Just a simple phrase but most folks look to others for its application. They never look to themselves.
We should all know that those who devise evil are no good, and are up to no good. But, we usually look to criminals for this principle. It is a truth as far as the jungle goes, but it also applies to everyone with respect to their spiritual lives.
There are only two opinions in this universe - Gods, and everything else. We studied this extensively in 1-3 Jn. Actually we have referred to this principle from time to time over the years. Now when will it sink in?
Next we should know by now that there are only two types of people - the good and the bad. We'll ignore the ugly for the moment (humor). Those who pursue their spiritual lives in the proper context of Gods plan are the good. Everyone else (and that is most of the world) are the bad. The bad not only include all unbelievers, but it also includes all believers in Christ who are not interested in their spiritual lives as well as all believers who do not pursue their spiritual life within the boundaries which God had defined for the spiritual life. People who decide for themselves what their spiritual path will be are included in the category of the evil.
Everything you do in life is a production of something. You either produce good or you produce bad.
Everything done while living within the fellowship sphere is good. You can be asleep and in fellowship while asleep and all you do is categorized as good - divine good.
When you are out of fellowship, everything you do is categorized as wickedness. Evil is the policy of Satan and any plan which in opposition of God. All of the production of evil is called wickedness.
Obviously any sin is production of evil. Any crime is production of evil. But that is not all. The source of strength of the sin nature is human good. That means anything which is good - like nice deeds or being polite to others and so forth, when they are done while out of fellowship, are done while under the power of the sin nature. Therefore they are wickedness. Why? Because they are done from the energy of ones own strength. Gods strength and mans strength are in conflict in the spiritual life.
Gods strength is perfect, mans is not.
A little example. Two people help a little old lady across the street. The first is in fellowship and therefore his deed is classified as divine good. The second person is out of fellowship and even though they did the exact same thing, their deed is wickedness. Again why?
Gods plan is the perfect plan and the only plan to salvation, for the spiritual life, and for existence into eternity. Man cannot come up with a plan wherein man can match what God can do.
The obvious contrast is in salvation. Christ did the work and in Him we are to believe. But evil people reject God, His plan, and Christ, and they think they can get into heaven by some other means.
Next example. The spiritual life for believers is based on Gods plan also. He requires a fellowship status before the spiritual life will function properly. Anyone who complies with that plan is classified as good. They are the ones who grow up spiritually in the legitimate fashion.
All who reject this fellowship stuff think that they do not need it, they think that they can define their own path to maturity and that is where they fail. Their arrogance is the sin and their beliefs are their barrier to their success in life - they fail. Just being a nice person ('I have kept all of the commandments') is not enough. In fact thinking that you are a nice person is a deception of yourself. Again, arrogance is your flaw.
Therefore, if you go back and review your study in 1, 2, 3 John, then you will have an indepth understanding of Gods plan and design for the spiritual life.
In order to please God it is not what you do or how you do it, but doing all that you do while in fellowship. You have to do things Gods way, not your way.
Ignore your spiritual life and Gods rules and you are a producer of evil. Doesn't make any difference how nice of a person you are.
In order to succeed in your spiritual life, then you have to do things in accordance with Gods plan and design for the spiritual life. You might want to review the study of the seven spirits from Isa. 11 and Rev. 1. The seven spirits pretty well sums up Gods definition and function of the spiritual life.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
