You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Proverbs 14:5-6
5 A faithful [emuwn] witness [ed] will not lie [kazab]: but a false [sheqer] witness [ed] will utter [puwach] lies [kazab]. 6 A scorner [luwts] seeketh [baqash] wisdom [chokmah], and findeth it not: but knowledge [da`ath] is easy [qalal] unto him that understandeth [biyn]. KJV-Interlinear 5 A faithful witness will not lie, But a false witness speaks lies. 6 A scoffer seeks wisdom, and finds none, But knowledge is easy to him who has understanding. NASB
In the administration of justice and truth, it is important that the witnesses and the evidence be truthful, objective, accurate, unbiased and so forth. Anything less would be an abuse of justice and truth.
When justice and truth are compromised for less than honorable objectives then society on the whole loses.
We see a lot of examples of this failure in the news media of late, where personal agendas, sensationalism, politics, power lusts and the like, rule those who prefer to sell advertising or prefer to influence the masses, at their expense, rather than reporting the truth accurately.
Likewise in ones personal life, your very own soul will determine whether you will report truth to yourself, or lies.
Anyone who pursues their objective study in the Bible, pursues truth. They may encounter many false teachers along the way, but an objective student will sooner or later see through the lies. This is of course aided by the ministry of the Holy Spirit who guides your instruction by making the truth apparent to you.
This guidance occurs from within the fellowship sphere.
Anyone who ignores their Bible study becomes a false witness to themselves. Remember that in order to gain truth (spiritual truth) inside of your soul, it has to come to your soul via the human spirit. That is the gateway through which all Bible doctrine travels. See the chart on the soul of the believer in fellowship.
When you are out of fellowship then all information transferred into your soul goes not through the human spirit but comes to you directly as academic information. Any unbeliever can memorize the Bible, but the spiritual value comes only from doctrine which is processed through the human spirit. This requires the existence of a human spirit, which is obtained when a person is saved. And then of course you have to be in fellowship. Review our extensive study of fellowship in 1, 2, 3 John.
The source and means of your information have to be true and accurate with respect to reality. That only occurs for the believer in fellowship.
Anyone who ignores their obligations of truth (anyone who is out of fellowship) is then a liar in life, first to themselves and second to everyone with whom they associate.
Is truth difficult to gain? No. One only needs to believe in Christ, and then maintain a close watch on their sin status - confess them - and live in fellowship. And, of course, pursue their spiritual life.
Anyone, who rejects Gods method of finding truth (which as you can see truth is very easy to obtain), is then a scoffer. They reject Gods plan. They know something that God apparently has forgotten or overlooked - obviously. Scoffers must see themselves as smarter than God!
Scoffers pursue truth through flawed means. They will never find it in the dark. That is where they live (in the dark) when they function in life while out of fellowship.
Imagine waking up one morning totally blind and all people on earth are missing. How long will you last? Not very long. You might remember where the food and water are, for as long as they last, but as the days turn into weeks and months, and as things begin to break and you cannot figure anything out, then sooner or later you will have an accident or you will simply starve.
Living apart from God means that you live apart from his provision. God provides us with everything we have or will ever have. Living apart from truth means that you are totally lost in life. The real question is, 'Do you realize it?'
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
