You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Proverbs 14:3

3 In the mouth [peh] of the foolish [eviyl] is a rod [choter] of pride [ga`avah]: but the lips [saphah] of the wise [chakam] shall preserve [shamar] them. KJV-Interlinear

3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod for his back, But the lips of the wise will preserve them. NASB

Who is the stupid and who is the wise? Or should I ask, who are the foolish, and who are the wise?

Wisdom is associated with knowledge, experience, and understanding obtained in reverse order naturally. You cannot understand something until you have learned it. And you cannot learn anything unless you hear it. And you won't hear anything unless you are interested in it first.

Those who are not interested in the Bible won't listen to its teaching. They can't learn and therefore will never understand it.

The wise person recognizes what it important in life and that which is not. The wise person will pursue a study of the Word of God. Why? Well because the wise person somehow concludes that God is very smart.

Imagine that!

If God is pretty smart, then His wisdom is worth checking into. Wouldn't you think? The wise person realizes this and pursues the only information that we have from God - the Bible. Studying the Bible you begin to understand it. Experiencing life with a frame of reference from the Bible gives you additional understanding. Sooner or later you possess that understanding or you have a very good command of it, and that is your wisdom.

Think of a child who is learning to count - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Th child is merely beginning to memorize the words. Then that counting is associated with the fingers and then we begin to think about quantities and the relationships between one finger and five. Then we begin to do simple math and then more complex math equations. We have money we deal with and recipes for cooking and baking and eventually we are very comfortable with our numbers, we are comfortable with shopping and so forth. Counting and math become automatic. We can add and subtract easily virtually without thinking of what we are doing. We have gained a command knowledge of our numbers.

The same concept is true with our letters - A, B, C, D. We memorize them, then eventually we can write sentences and paragraphs and correspond easily with others. We write and type and speak with relative ease. We have attained a reasonable command of our language.

With Bible doctrine there is no difference. One of your goals in life is to become independent in your thinking which Bible doctrine provides for you. Independent from the thinking that the world would have you do, that is. This is an aspect of true spiritual maturity. God has given you all the necessary ingredients to understand life and Him. This all comes to the positive believer.

Spiritual growth gives you an autonomy a self reliance so to speak. You rely on God naturally, but with respect to the world which would prefer that you become enslaved to it, those chains are cut loose with spiritual growth.

The fool, on the other hand is a person who is ignorant of Gods Word. But not ignorant because he simply does not know it. He is a fool because he is aware of Gods Word, but he openly and freely rejects it. His own pride, his own arrogance, his own attitude is allowed to get in his way and Gods Word isn't allowed into his soul. He does this all by himself.

He is a fool.

God is the smartest being in existence. He created the universe and all that is in it. From galaxy clusters, to the smallest element which is in existence, God created it all. His knowledge is not limited to just the making of things. God created life too, and all the proper relationships which accompany life.

Anyone who is born into this world, and begins life as an infant, knowing virtually nothing, and then growing up, is limited to whatever learning he is exposed to, and then somehow decides that he knows more than God. Then that is the quintessence of arrogance and stupidity.

Before we were born we didn't even exist. How can we come from nothing to knowing everything on our own? Can we know what is the smallest thing in the universe? No. Science is still discovering ever smaller and smaller things. Do we know where the edge of the universe is? No. Better and better satellites find the presumed edge of the universe with highly sophisticated telescopes, only to discover later that there is far more out there than we ever imagined.

We are still discovering things on our own planet.

So mankind is not and never will be qualified to know all there is to know. Some of us have trouble trying to figure out teenagers!

Sooner or later every person speaks his mind. What comes from the lips originates from the soul. You cannot speak of that which you do not know. You can only speak from the content of what you do know, and in that your wisdom or foolishness is made known.

Foolishness is the identifying source of your discipline or judgment. No knowledge of Bible doctrine and now everyone knows why. On the other hand, the wise person knows Bible doctrine and that is their source of deliverance and blessing.

Not only do people see and hear of your thoughts, words and actions, but angels also are witness to your spiritual status or lack of it, because over the course of your life you establish a pattern of how you think and act. No one is ever unfairly accused or punished.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
