You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth. Proverbs 13:17-18 17 A wicked [rasha] messenger [mal'ak] falleth [naphal] into mischief [ra]: but a faithful [emuwn] ambassador [tsiyr] is health [marpe]. 18 Poverty [reysh] and shame [qalown] shall be to him that refuseth [para] instruction [muwcar]: but he that regardeth [shamar] reproof [towkechah] shall be honoured [kabad]. KJV-Interlinear 17 A wicked messenger falls into adversity, But a faithful envoy brings healing. 18 Poverty and shame will come to him who neglects discipline, But he who regards reproof will be honored. NASB A messenger is one who delivers messages, or conveys information, or reports on some event, or one who communicates something to someone. Obviously from our study this would implicate believers in their relationship with God and His Word. The scriptures are information which God has delivered to mankind. Man has an obligation to communicate that truth to his own soul. Those who do not, are wicked messengers to themselves, basing their lives on the worlds wisdom rather than on Gods. Likewise in the general world we have reporters who may report news accurately or inaccurately. There are employees who will perform their duties responsibly or irresponsibly with respect to their reporting of information to management. There are politicians or leaders who will intentionally deceive the voters just to gain an office of power. There are preachers or pastors, or what ever you want to call religious leaders who will deceive the masses in order to maintain their positions of influence and to satisfy their own ego's. There are celebrities who will do anything in order to gain publicity and promotion for themselves. A wicked messenger reports falsely in order to promote misfortune or calamity against others, or to promote his own agenda which by default, because of his wicked behavior, is also an evil agenda.. He is neither interested in the truth, nor the consequences to his intended victims. His victim may be a single individual or an entire society. Such is the nature of anyone who ignores their spiritual life. The positive believer on the other hand, is a faithful messenger. He lives in doctrine and truth. He does not attempt to promote himself at the expense of others. He does not pursue agendas of selfishness. The positive believer knows that God promotes those who are prepared spiritually. The world may try to imitate promotions and honors and such with its awards and shows and various ceremonies, but these things are shallow and empty attempts of advancement of self. God on the other hand is the only one who can give out real promotions. His promotions and recognition's are based on the content of truth within the soul of the believer. His promotions are permanent. You are not promoted if God does not promote you. To him who rejects instruction, correction, and discipline, there is failure in life. To Him that opens himself up to instruction, correction and discipline, there is success in life. The spiritual life is the ultimate pursuit that anyone can have in life. If you are successful in your spiritual life, then you will be successful in all other aspects of your life. Poverty and shame are terms which mean loss of blessing and extreme embarrassment as a result of a lifetime of bad thoughts, motives, decisions, and actions. The negative believer not only will lose out on blessings in time, but he will lose out on blessings in eternity. And ones eternal blessings are potentially vast in quantity and quality. Most people dream of having a rich oil field, or a very productive gold mine. And, they spend their entire life hustling and wishing for the luck to fall on them. Positive believers know that they have inside of their soul, something infinitely more valuable than the greatest gold mine, or diamond mine, or oil field, in the world. And that something is Gods Word and the related spiritual growth it produces. Only God can promote. Only God can bless. And, we know that with certainty, when we advance in our spiritual lives that God will promote and will bless us with infinite blessings even beyond our imagination. Eph. 3:20 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think , according to the power that worketh in us, End Of Lesson Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
