Prov. 12:27-28

Lesson # Prov. 12:27-28
Study Material - Prov. 12:27-28

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Proverbs 12:27-28

27 The slothful [ramiyah] man roasteth [charak] not that which he took in hunting [tsayid] : but the substance [hown] of a diligent [charuwts] man [adam] is precious [yaqar] .
28 In the way [orach] of righteousness [tsadaqah] is life [chay] ; and in the pathway [nathiyb] [derek] thereof there is no death [maveth] . KJV-Interlinear

27 A slothful man does not roast his prey, But the precious possession of a man is diligence. 28 In the way of righteousness is life, And in its pathway there is no death. NASB

These last two verses really wrap up the meaning and differences between mature believers and all others. Remember too that there are two spheres or environments within which we may live. There is the spiritual environment in which only those believers who confess their sins regularly, will live. The principle of confession and fellowship we have studied in Leviticus and the mechanics is found in 1 John. Then there is the environment of the carnal world.

Under fellowship the Holy Spirit is in control of the believers soul. Within the carnal world, the sin nature is in control of the persons soul. No one is ever in control of their own soul apart from one of these two powers.

In fellowship, the believer surrenders himself to the slavery of Christ and gains freedom. Under the carnal life, the person surrenders his soul to the sin nature in pursuit of freedom, and finds slavery.

Diligence is a characteristic which can apply to anyone, believer or unbeliever. Laziness is the opposite of diligence.

So now we have the two environments in which we might live, and we have opposite attitudes.

The lazy person, who naturally lives within the carnal world, may have many things, even the catch of the day. His meal of the day. But he does not and never appreciates what he has. He will not even take the time to prepare his meal properly. His meal is the common thing of prosperity which allows one to continue life for another day or two. Without food, you don't live too awfully long. So some appreciation of having food on the table would be expected. Even if the food is handed to Him, he does not appreciate it.

In contrast, the diligent person will keep after the things he wants in life, and will take the time to appreciate them. His drive, his ambition are characteristics of value to Him.

Now that is in the carnal world. In the spiritual world, God gives us all great gifts. Our first was our very own physical birth. The day we came forth out of the womb. If you are breathing today, then you had a momma and you were born into this world. Believe it or now. You were really a tiny little brat of an infant at some point in your life.

Then God continued to give us things like parents, food, air, gravity, an education opportunity, a life to live.

But again that is in the carnal world. There is much more. God has given us all the opportunity to live with Him forever and in grand prosperity and blessing beyond our imagination.

Now this is where the diligence of the world and diligence of the spiritual realm separate. Diligence in the world is fine, but its destiny ultimately will amount to zero. The world is not your destiny. It isn't your intended destiny, that is.

The ultimate diligence is in pursuing ones spiritual growth, because that will result in a possession that is more valuable than all the wealth of the world.

Worldly diligence is a valuable lesson to learn in that it teaches responsibility and moral value. But spiritual diligence is far superior, in that it gains you eternal life and eternal reward far better than any satisfaction you can receive from this world.

The worldly person is in fact the lazy person. By ignoring his spiritual life, by trying to live within some compromise version of a self defined spirituallity, or by outright rejection of God, he does not appreciate and therefore squanders that which God has given freely.

The spiritual person is the one who holds true diligence in their pursuit of a treasure of superior value. Their spiritual life.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
