Prov. 12:22-24
Lesson # Prov. 12:22-24
Study Material - Prov. 12:22-24
You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Proverbs 12:22-24 22 Lying [sheqer] lips [saphah] are abomination [tow`ebah] to the LORD [Yahovah] : but they that deal [asah] truly [emuwnah] are his delight [ratsown] . 23 A prudent [aruwm] man [adam] concealeth [kacah] knowledge [da`ath] : but the heart [leb] of fools [kaciyl] proclaimeth [qara] foolishness [ivveleth] . 24 The hand [yad] of the diligent [charuwts] shall bear rule [mashal] : but the slothful [ramiyah] shall be under tribute [mac] . KJV-Interlinear 22 Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, But those who deal faithfully are His delight. 23 A prudent man conceals knowledge, But the heart of fools proclaims folly. 24 The hand of the diligent will rule, But the slack hand will be put to forced labor. NASB
There are but two sources of wisdom in this universe. There is Gods truth and there is the lie. Again no in between. The truth is from the scriptures, and the lie excludes, or twists, or is a compromise of, the scriptures in some way.
Truth allows you to see that which is real and discern from that which is not real.
For example, a little truth. We are born into this world and one day we all will die. That is an indisputable truth. The problem comes when we look at life and decide that we need not be concerned with death. That is something that happens to others, or perhaps to us later in life. No need to concern ones self with that now.
Focus on life now and when death comes, well, you will have had a good life and what comes will come. Deal with it later. Deal with it after death.
And that approach is of course the philosophy of the fool. If you do not prepare for death now, then it will be too late to deal with, after death engulfs you.
Another truth/lie contrast. We can do whatever we want, so long as it doesn't hurt anyone. Or, we can believer something and if our intentions are good, then it is ok. Or, we can live our life as best as we can, and that is all that matters. Or, we can hustle through life and get or take what we can. After all you only live once. Better make the best of it. Or, the system is rigged against all of us, so what is the point of trying to be better than what you are. We all get burned in the end anyway.
And I am sure that you can come up with many more clichés, or sayings, or beliefs that people have in life because they grew up with them, or because they were taught them, or just fell into them from life's experiences.
If we look at life and conclude that it is all an accident, or that we can individually find our way to an acceptable afterlife, or we should just hustle, or coast our way through life, because we won't get anywhere unless we get lucky, or make things happen for ourselves, and other similar attitudes, then we are fools. We just won't discover it until it is too late - at the point of our death.
There is one truth. There is one God, the Father. There is one path to God, the Son, Jesus Christ. Yes Christ is God too, but God is a generic term used by the worlds religions and philosophies. God (the real one) set up a plan for access to Himself, through the Son, in order to create a difference between Christianity, which is a relationship with God through Christ, and all other beliefs. 'Through Christ,' is the key to truth. Rejection of Christ means that you are trying to gain access to God or life by your own invented means. God rejects that, because it is a lie.
There is but one truth. The spiritual life is gained through that which is defined and acceptable by God. You cannot advance in perfection if you are not yourself perfect. God defined that path - confession and fellowship. You cannot just feel sorry for your sins. You cannot hum your way into an higher plane of existence. Gods sets out the rules, and if we comply then we are operating within His will. If we try to redefine our own set of rules, then we live the lie.
God is truth. His plan is truth. Anything else is a lie.
God gave us all an environment in which we were given the opportunity to advance to spiritual maturity. He gave us a planet with water, food, air, an education, a job, responsibilities, family, obligations, etc., etc., etc. All of this is the environment in which we are given the opportunity to prepare for the next life.
We were not put here to be a fireman or housewife forever. We were put here to prepare for eternity. Rejecting that or ignoring that, which is what 99% of the world does, is living the lie.
Being the fool in life is an abomination (a disappointment) to God. He gives us all that we need, including information from which we can see and understand the truth, and most just ignore it.
Who is God pleased with? Those (few) who get it. Those (few) who recognize that their spiritual life is the single most important thing that they have in life, and that nurturing it (ones spiritual life) will pay huge dividends to them in eternity. Eternity is a very long time.
The fool is not only the fool because they reject Gods wisdom and counsel, but they open up their mouth and disclose their stupidity to all, by speaking. The words spoken are a gateway to understanding the soul of the individual. Not the eyes. The eyes can fool you. But when a person speaks, then sooner or later the true motivations of their soul come out. They can speak all of the right words for a while, but time will trip them up.
The fool has a need to speak out. They have to be heard. They have to have attention. They have to be in control. They have to compete with anyone and everyone in order to make themselves feel on top or superior. But they are never satisfied, because their actions, based on the word of that which is false, can never provide satisfaction of any kind.
The righteous person, on the other hand, does not need to speak out. When confronted with antagonism, he will hide his wisdom. He will not be entrapped in a petty debate. He has self esteem is based on Bible doctrine in his soul, and he has no unfulfilled need where he needs to lash out in self defense or criticism in order to fill up some vacuum in his soul.
That vacuum of soul exists in the negative person, not within the soul of the positive person.
The negative person is lazy of soul. The positive person is diligent and therefore will have productive results from his effort (learning, understanding, applying doctrine to his life).
Of course negative people can be diligent in life and get good grades in school or work hard and advance in their careers, but they are ultimately losers in life because they are investing in their own energy rather than in Gods purpose for their life.
Diligence in life should properly be a result of spiritual advance. Diligence is not the means to some form of self ordained righteousness, where God and doctrine are excluded. Your attitude of soul which is based on your content of soul are the deciding factors in your life, not your energy, or effort, or general attitude about yourself or others.
You cannot be reconciled to yourself or others, until you are first reconciled to God. And that comes through the study and understanding of His Word. Advancing to maturity will yield tremendous reward. Rejecting your spiritual advance will yield only misery, discouragement, disappointment, frustration and ultimate failure in this life. For unbelievers, it will yield total terror in eternity. For negative believers, their loss will be in forfeiting future reward.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
