Prov. 12:1-2
Lesson # Prov. 12:1-2
Study Material - Prov. 12:1-2
You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Proverbs 12:1-2 1 Whoso loveth [ahab] instruction [muwcar] loveth [ahab] knowledge [da`ath] : but he that hateth [sane] reproof [towkechah] is brutish [ba`ar] . 2 A good [towb] man obtaineth [puwq] favour [ratsown] of the LORD [Yahovah] : but a man [iysh] of wicked devices [mazimmah] will he condemn [rasha] . KJV-Interlinear 1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, But he who hates reproof is stupid. 2 A good man will obtain favor from the LORD, But He will condemn a man who devises evil. NASB
There are advantages to being a believer in Jesus Christ. The obvious advantage is being saved and as such, not going to the Lake of Fire, but to heaven after leaving this earth.
The second advantage but not quite as obvious, is the special grace and privilege we receive from God when we grow up spiritually to the point of maturity.
The person who has the open mind. The person who is not shallow in their thinking. The person who is willing to listen to an unknown concept, or belief that differs from something he already has an opinion on, that person has the advantage of hearing instruction. He will listen from the discipline of his open mindedness. That is, self discipline for hearing without reacting in some negative way.
And as a result he will learn everything that God has to teach. We all have a lot to learn, and we all need to be taught. None of us can originate any meaningful wisdom of value, from our own brilliant thinking. Even if your IQ were at the top of the scale, you could not originate any wisdom on your own. No human being is capable of that.
Wisdom comes from God and God alone. In order to learn it, we have to be taught it.
In contrast, anyone who does not want to learn, anyone who thinks that he knows enough already, anyone who rejects ideas which differ from those he already has, is stupid. But here, 'ba`ar' means more than just stupid, it means dull minded like the mind of a dumb ox.
The negative person might have a high IQ, and be very personable, and witty. But in Gods mind, that person is stupid because he rejects truth and embraces his own intellect, whether great or small. A negative person is no greater of a thinker, than a dumb animal.
Those who are positive toward Gods Word, are grateful for any opportunity to learn His truth. The learning process is not looked upon as a hardship, but as a privilege made possible by the grace of God.
The negative person sees the Bible as nothing more than an inconvenience to their life.
The positive person who perseveres in the learning process and their spiritual life, will gain favor, acceptance, delight, privilege from God. That is a tremendous blessing when you look at the alternative of having absolutely nothing in this life.
The world is against you. Satan and his legions are against you. Most people, or their pattern of thinking are against you. Who does that leave standing with you in your corner? Only God. Who, if you ever get into a scrap of any kind in life, is the best partner you could ever have. And we all have scrapes of one kind or another, chasing us throughout our lives.
The negative person is condemned. He is guilty and therefore condemned to the sentence of the highest court. When you find yourself in a scrap (didn't I say this before?), then having God against you is not the position you want to find yourself in.
The world is against you. Satan is against you. The pattern of thought of people are against you. And, if God is against you, then your life is toast. There is no one to turn to, when trouble raises its head, if you turn your back against God.
Pursuing God gives you great advantage. Ignoring God, gets you nothing.
Now is the time to post a prayer.
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
