You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.
Prov. 11:27
27 He that diligently seeketh [shachar] good [towb] procureth [baqash] favour [ratsown] : but he that seeketh [darash] mischief [ra] , it shall come [bow] unto him. KJV-Interlinear
Prov. 11:27
27 He who diligently seeks good seeks favor, But he who searches after evil, it will come to him. NAS
There are but two opinions in this universe, Gods opinion and then there is everything else.
There are but two opinions in this universe, that which is good, and that which is evil.
Good is the policy of God. Evil is the policy of Satan, the original opponent of God. God provides the text of His opinion within the covers of the Bible. Satan provides his opinion within the deceptions of public opinion, within the philosophies of the world, within the sphere of our everyday environment. We are in fact saturated with Satan's opinion. We have just become so used to it that it seems normal and right to us in our everyday life.
What do we mean by Satan's opinion or philosophy? Well it includes human viewpoint and all the philosophies that mankind had invented since Adam. Satan was merely the originator of anti-God sentiment from the time of the Garden when he challenged the repercussions of the eating from the fruit of the forbidden tree. Eve was naive and consequently was deceived. But then mankind is deceived by the many philosophies, religions, and various public opinions because we (mankind) are naive with respect to the truth of life.
'He who seeks,' means to pursue with a vigor, to be diligent as with a passion, to make painstaking effort, to pursue with an insatiable desire, to seek with earnest, to arise early to be first to discover. This is the attitude of the one who desires, genuinely desires, Gods Word and spiritual growth. The casual interest is riddled with indifference and compromise. But the person who has a genuine desire to advance in their spiritual life will make every effort to seek out opportunities to learn and to grow.
What do they gain? Gods favor. We live in a world where many look to connections, to 'who you know' in order to get ahead, to gain advancement, to have that edge which mankind looks to for success. But then mankind looks within the jungle of his environment for these advantages and it is all a deception and a distraction.
Of all the living who can help you, who better than God can provide all the little edges and advantages in life? God is omnipotent, which means He is capable of doing anything. God is omniscient, which simply means that He knows all that will be and all the 'possibilities' that could be. God has foreknowledge, which means that He knows exactly and precisely everything that 'will' happen in life and when. So if you are into dropping names, then whose name could be better than Gods?
So, he who seeks good, seeks favor. And that is Gods favor. Some would long for a rich uncle. Actually many would long for a rich uncle. Especially one who really likes them. But again, who is better to love you than God? And there is no one who can love each and every one of us more than God.
Pursuing ones spiritual growth means that you are pursuing the single most important thing in your life, combined with pursuing the favor of the single most important person who has ever lived, Jesus Christ. These two, together, mean peace, prosperity, success and so forth, and these to degrees far beyond that which you could ever imagine.
In contrast, if you are not pursuing 'good,' than you are pursuing evil by default. Most of us do not think of our life in that way, but it is true. You are seeking one or the other. There is not a third choice. All the nice impressions that you have of yourself are false evaluations or beliefs. You are either pursuing God or your are not.
To pursue God means only one thing. You are studying your Bible diligently, ravenousnessly, painstakingly, urgently, earnestly. Didn't we mention these before? You are learning. You are applying what you learn ( this is the tough part) to your daily life. You are therefore growing up. This is a good thing.
If this does not apply. If you study only when it is convenient. If you think about your spiritual life only occasionally, if at all, then you are in pursuit of evil. And what happens to such a person? Evil is trouble, and trouble comes in pursuit of him. Not good to follow a muddy path in life.
The spiritual life separates the men and women from the boys and girls. You are either going to grow up in life or your are not. The choice is always yours to make, and thus direct your own destiny. Now ask yourself, 'Why would you want to travel a muddy stinky path through life, when just a thought away is a pure golden path to travel?
End Of Lesson
Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
