Prov. 10:4

Lesson # Prov. 10:4
Study Material - Prov. 10:4

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Prov. 10:4

4 Poor is he who works with a negligent hand, But the hand of the diligent makes rich.

Solomon gives us common sense sayings. In the world there are three levels of action or life or whatever you might wish to call it. The first two are sort of together. The first being the law of the jungle. In the jungle the strong survive. The weak get squished. Free will runs rampant as wickedness rules. Look to Afghanistan prior to last September for an example. Thoroughly saturated in lawlessness with those 'big tough guys' beating on the poor old women, and everything else we have seen examples from that part of the world. Now the Middle East is falling in all these suicides. You can't even go out to the market for fear of it being your last trip from home. The law of the jungle is ruthless, caring nothing for anyone. All are susceptible to abuse. Even the strong grow weak with time.

The second level of laws, if you wish to call them that, is a level of common sense. Mixed with several establishment laws, these make it possible for anyone, believer or unbeliever, to survive in the world. Were it not for the constraints which God puts in place, then man would have self-destructed long ago. The establishment principles are not mentioned here, but good common sense instructions are.

The third level of laws are the spiritual laws. Those laws wherein God controls your life through your residence in fellowship and spiritual growth. These give you the edge in life. We cannot always control life around us, but God takes charge of our life and makes things happen, and especially when things are beyond our control, when we are helpless. But His assistance is not limited to times of helplessness of course.

Combine all of these and you have a certain chance of survival in life. Eliminate the third aspect in your life and you still have survival chances with the other two. Eliminate the second and your chances are only as good as the jungle will allow - and those are not good odds. Misery and destruction are certain.

So grow up in life and be negligent or diligent. Which will benefit you more. These sayings of Solomon have dual purposes both in life and in the spiritual life. If you are negligent in life, deceitful, careless, stubborn, lazy, a procrastinator, if you just are not convinced to study in school, do not try to work hard at work, don't try to find work, don't try to further your education, then your life will have many failures. Your choices in life and the resulting opportunities go hand and hand with your decisions. Don't make an effort! Then don't expect much. Try to take short cuts. Try to defraud others. You'll lose your reputation, and burn bridges in life.

In your spiritual life, which is far more important than any temporal life decisions, likewise if you are negligent in your Bible study, then your spiritual growth will be nil. Don't expect much from God. How many times have we read, 'Walk in My ways.' 'Be perfect.' And so forth? Many times.

He who makes a priority in life of his spiritual life will be blessed. Along with spiritual growth comes common sense. You do not have spiritual growth apart from the knowledge of your responsibilities in life. They go hand in hand. If you are smart then you know that you cannot sit back on your porch swing, read the Bible and advance to blessings. You'll starve if you do not have a job. God does not cancel your obligations to function in life. So brush your teeth, take a shower, get a job, be responsible, and so forth. But also, study diligently, your Bible.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
